Sooo,
How was your weekend?
Did you do anything, or catch anything exciting?
Well, I won’t go into details just quite yet, but I’d say we caught a few things…
Here is what we picked up this week
Costco $26.57
Guess who bought all this crap?
Not me. The Handsome Husband took Monkey Boy to the Home Depot so he could pick up some supplies for his science project. On the way home, they decided to pop into Costco to pick up dinner. Aww how sweet, right? Wrong! I was totally planning on coming in under $15 for groceries this week when he pulled this. Grrr. And to think I was planning on buying him and the boy a bag of Doritos at QFC for $2. Well forget that. I won’t even go into the part about how I already have a ton of bread and buns in the freezer. Nope. Not going there.
Thanks to the iTunes gift card promo I was able to stock up on meat and milk.
Albertsons $4.81
I won 2 more $2 cash prizes from the Summer Sizzlin’ Sweepstakes and decided to play it safe and buy milk. But while I was in the store I decided to purchase another set of iTunes gift cards cards {birthdays, graduation and Christmas gifts} and so I was able to get another $20 store coupon for free groceries PLUS a $5 off my next order coupon printed at the bottom of my receipt. In the end I only had to pay $4.81 oop.
~ So how did YOU do this week? Are you an Albertsons shopper? Did you stock up on gift cards so you could score some FREE groceries? If not, what was your favorite deal at YOUR store?
Total Spent This Week $39.27
Total Spent This Year $680.63
Total Spent This Year on Garden Seeds/Supplies $473.47
Total “Seed Money” donations received $8.00
Thinking about preparing a few freezer meals so you don’t have to spend so much time in the kitchen this summer? Check out the book Fix, Freeze, Feast: The Delicious, Money-Saving Way to Feed Your Family by Kati Neville. Amazon has it currently priced at only $10.17.

Oh.my.MOUSE! Ewwww… Your face is priceless though! 🙂
Yes, I shop Albertson’s and I bought $75 in Kohls GCs (they had their Friends & Family 20% off sale this weekend and I was able to order 2 pairs of jeans (smaller size as I have lost a lot of weight recently—yahoo!) and clearance clothing for my daughter for school next year at $74.58! I also bought the $25 Applebee’s just to add to my GC stash for Christmas gifts. I got my $20, plus my $5.00 on my next order coupon still to use…waiting to see if the next ad is showing anything promising tomorrow. Would be fun to have a nice steak this summer, maybe a flank, but I was thinking that prices would be high this week due to Father’s Day as Daddy’s Love the Man-Meat, so maybe prices would go down next week? Here’s to hoping…Fingers crossed! 🙂

Went fishing with the family for Father’s Day – son caught a nice catfish. Also, harvested a couple of zucchini from the garden – big deal since my wife loves them and I got a big ZERO harvested last year. Finally on Sunday had a new batch of 22 baby quail hatch. All in all a good weekend!

Nice Mavis! Did the GC promo once, but wish there were more giftcards. I am trying to talk myself into doing it one more time.
Mavis says
Ha Ha! I sooo wish they had Amazon or Home Depot.

I bought 4 $100 lowes and $100 JC Penny’s. I was able to buy some vegetable oil, powder milk, cereal and TP with them plus a few other items. Now I need to stay home all week because I have less than $20 bucks left of my grocery budget for the rest of the month thanks to the Fred Meyer/Smiths/QFC buy 5 save$5 sale. I bought 20 packs of the 8ct Juicy juice for $0.10-$0.66 each. Plus the $1.88 Frosted Flakes had a peelie cpn for $3 off milk wyb 3 boxes of kelloggs cereal, making them $.055 each after $1 cpn and $3 cpn… I stocked up! Bought 24 boxes and have a fridge full of milk. Too bad about the bread..
I need to catch me some critters…….

That’s right… you go catch some critters!

The husband did $200 from his backyard fund for Lowe’s so we (I) got 2x$20 there. And then I took (no penalty) money from the Christmas account and did $300 in iTunes for the nephews that I would have bought anyway, and then Cabela’s to buy Christmas gifts there for the husband and Kohl’s to buy Christmas gifts for my kids. So all told I got $100 in “free” money. Love it. Also got my hands on about 30 or so more coupon books and got a bunch of 19-cent tuna and 19-cent big cans of chili beans. Oh – and we used a bunch of the donut/bagel tickets for Father’s Day breakfast- LOL!

$100 in groceries? Holy cow!

We did great with the Albertson’s gift card deal. We had $800 set aside for a new sliding door which we planned to order from Lowe’s and Handsome Husband had $500 for handheld GPS saved up to get from Cabela’s, so we purchased all gift cards for those two purchases and received $260 and then 4 $5 coupons so we had a whopping $280 to spend. We did it all in one day (2 hours) because we are not really close to an Albertsons. We got a lot of meat, produce, cooking oils, many misc. items, as well as many high priced items that coupons are not always found for. We both left with huge smiles and did a high five in the car on our way out of the parking lot. Nothing beats free groceries!

I agree, FREE groceries rule!

I think it’s great! Good job!
