This past week was a wee bit busy. I spent my time gardening, catching up with friends, painting, taking photographs and passing out carrots to random people. Oh, and then there was the whole CNN thing.
When you’re trying to feed your family for $100 a month, you just never know what’s going to happen. Some weeks you are able to stock up on a ton of food, and other weeks you end up just buying milk. It takes a little getting used too, but it’s fun.
Here’s what made it’s way into our home this week:
Double coupons were the name of the game this week. To see a breakdown of everything I purchased, go HERE.
Safeway $46.12 {I forgot to take a photo}
Last week at Safeway I picked up 48+ pounds of fresh peaches and 4 gallons of milk. Normally we don’t buy that much milk but I made an amazing batch of strawberry almond granola last week and so we needed a bunch of milk. Plus, Ice Cream was on the agenda too.
FREE Steak
We helped a neighbor and they surprised us a few packages of steak. Holy cow! What a treat.
FREE Cheese
Oh how I love a good barter!
So what did YOU buy last week? Did you pick up anything good? If you had to guess, how much do you think your family spends on groceries each week?

I read the CNN article. Obviously a lot of people don’t get your tongue-in-cheek style of writing.
So serious over there!! YIKES!!

I know! I totally forgot to put my hair in a ponytail. It’s called lack of sleep. I didn’t even notice until I uploaded the photos. 🙂

We had a store here with peaches at $0.68/lb – I bought a lot too 🙂 Those steaks look fabulous! Also, nice to see you in a picture with your hair down – cute!
Mavis says
$.68 a lb is a great price for peaches!

You know, Mavis – when I was in college and a girl had her hair different we’d say that she got some 😉 ….just sayin’ – ROTFL!!
Alright – so check this out.
I do Albies and then I also double at Walmart in our area who doubles when Albies and KMart doubles. I had those $1 Kotex coupons and the little packs are $1.24..they doubled the dollar and gave me the overage – to the tune of $18. Woop Woop! Got a ton of stuff free there….soda….juice…Ivory bar soap….uh…195 items of free to be exact. As for Albies…I did the Emerald Breakfast on the Gos which were MMs after doubling the CAT…free Minute rice after doubling the cat… I didn’t get a lot at Albies just because I used most of my coupons at Walmart (a lot of the same items you have here like the sunflower seeds and vinegar) – and way more entertainment there anyhow…people who wear their pajamas to shop….cashiers with tattoos and hickeys…totally a life-lessons-learning thing when I take the kids there – ha!
