Oh what a crazy week it’s been.
Back in January, I set the ground rules for my one hundred dollar a month grocery budget {you can read the rules HERE} and rule # 1 was…
“Money spent on vacation food does not count. Why? Because when we travel we use money from our “vacation fund.” Money that has been set aside specifically for vacations.”
So if you were hoping to see detailed photos of everything we have purchased while we’ve been on vacation these past few days, sorry, but I’m taking a {much needed} break from my OCD receipt collecting for a few days.
Before The Girl Who Thinks She’s a Bird and I left we made cookies and brownies, baked chicken, made an extra quiche, chopped and bagged veggies, and ordered some free food using our Vitacost credits so the boys would be able to fend for themselves {read: open a container} for a few days. I also pulled bread, bagels, and buns from the freezer, along with some hot dogs and other odds and ends. Hopefully when we get back they will not have peeled the paint off the baseboards because I didn’t display enough food for them to find at eye level.
But who knows, we’ll see.
Albertsons $3.00
Last week Albertsons had a deal where you could buy 4 bags of chips for $8. I was able to use a $5 Albertsons store coupon and ended up only paying $3 out of pocket. We hid the chips until the day we left so they boys would have a nice treat when we left.
Albertons $2.59
I also grabbed a gallon of milk.
Fred Meyer $7.32
Before we got out of Dodge, I also picked up a couple pounds of chicken so I could make the HH and Monkey Boy a large container full of maple soy chicken to re-heat.
And then we took off…
Let’s hope there will be some double coupons at Albertsons this weekend, or some sort of amazing grocery deals when we get back from our trip so I can restock the refrigerator. Because I’m pretty sure it will be empty when I get home.
Total Spent This Week $12.91
Total Spent This Year $843.85
Total Spent This Year on Garden Seeds/Supplies $496.58
Total “Seed Money” donations received $23.00
How did you do this past week? Are there any good deals I should know about?

Haha! Mavis, for all the joking about displaying food at eye level (I totally understand — my dad called it “looking like a boy”), you really did a lot for them before you left. Good wife & mom 🙂

Actually he was really cute. LOL. But a little on the young side. The mask was super creepy and of course The Girl thought I was a dork for getting my picture taken with him. 🙂
