Well, there’s only one week to go. I’ve got Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner taken care of, and enough milk in the refrigerator to last until New Years Day. So now it’s all about willpower down as I head down the home stretch.
Of course I couldn’t have gotten this far without a little help from my friends Mrs. Hillbilly,
and Francisco.
And Mr. Produce Guy too.
Albertsons – $2.50
Cinnamon rolls are on the menu for Christmas morning, and it’s a good thing they were {somewhat} on sale this week. With only $4.33 left to go, I think I can do this!

Yes, I also wonder how you do it, especially when I see all the delicious food and pastry pictures. The baking supplies along are getting so expensive. Kudos to you!! Thanks for all your time and tips. Merry Christmas!!

Coupons, people! I have a freezer door shelf full of boxes of butter and a pantry stuffed with flour & sugar… didn’t pay full price for any of it. Paid less than $2 a lb for the butter & $.49/per lb or less for the sugar!
Mavis– have you ever posted pictures of your stockpile? I haven’t been around long enough to know.
michelle guilmet-buck says
Never mind. Did a search & am looking back at your stockpile posts right now. 😀

I also don’t know how you do it. I know you have a couple of freezers and pantry stocked but it would be impossible for me to only buy one item for a whole week. This year I have tried to make a lot more dinners from scratch (rather than bottle/jar/packet helpers) and have been able to stick to about $120 per week. Here in Australia we don’t have coupons though so we rely on the shops giving good sale prices in the catalogues each week but items are rarely more than 50% off retail at most. I have considered a Costco membership but still don’t know if the $60 annual charge would be recouped in savings, considering it is a 45min drive away from home. I look forward to reading more ideas for the next 12 months 🙂
