Costco Shopping Trip $42.14
Oops, I did it again. Β Let me explain! π Butter? Hello, it’s the holidays and there is baking to be done. Meyer lemons? Well in case you didn’t know, Costco has Meyer lemons in stock and ready to consume and let me tell you Bob, I can’t wait to bust open that container and start whipping up some delicious Meyer lemon recipes.
Milk, chocolate chips and bacon. Yep, those are were all necessities too. π
Albertsons – Holy Smokes I LOVE this deal!!
For those of you who live in the Pacific Northwest, Albertsons is running a gift card special right now. Buy $100 in gift cards {Amazon, American Eagle, Applebees, Bass Pro Shops, Kohlβs, iTunes and MasterCard Gift Cards} and get a $20 Albertsons coupon good on your next purchase.
One $20 coupon will print per transaction. So if you plan on stocking up, you will need to do each $100 gift purchase separately. The Albertsons gift card deal expires 12/3/13 so you have plenty of time to do this deal.
So did I buy any gift cards? YES!!
Typically this deal comes around twice a year. The holidays, and tax time. So I plan ahead and save up so I can do this awesome deal. I think it’s pretty well known that I am an Amazon.com freak. So since I would be purchasing goods off Amazon anyway, this deal makes total sense for me. I also picked up some iTunes gift cards to give as Christmas gifts as well. Once each for Monkey Boy, The Girl and my niece. If there is one thing you can always count one, it’s that teens love music.
I haven’t had the chance to use my $20 grocery coupons yet, but I’ll tell you one thing. Our Thanksgiving turkey will be from Albertsons this year. π You can count on it.
Do you have a store in your area that offers these types of promos as well?
If so, I’d love to know what stores.

I used my $20 catalina from Albertsons on Jennie O turkey breasts.
They are B1G1 right now and I got 2 breasts for .15 plus the catalina!!!

According to the flyer, Shaws in the Northeast is doing the same deal. Haven’t checked it out in person yet. Seems like the MasterCard cards make the most sense. They could be used on groceries, right? It’s like getting free money to shop for taking the extra step.

I would double check the fine print on the MasterCard before you purchase it, Karina. I did a similar deal at Safeway and was a little disappointed that they had a $5.95 activation fee attached to it. Still a good moneymaker with the $20 catalina, but not as good as the other gift cards that don’t charge it.

On the East Coast, ShopRite is having the same promo.
ShopRite also had a promo if you spent $400 in the five weeks leading up to Thanksgiving you could get a free turkey.
I opted to get the reduced price ($1.20/lb.) for a spiral ham and put it in the freezer for Christmas.
By the way, I spent no where near $400. I couponded like crazy, rolled catalinas, etc. to get to what ShopRite considered $400 spent. The ham cost me $2 and change because I had $10 in catalinas. I love saving money like that at the grocery store. Can couponing be an addiction? But more importantly, do I want to be cured?
Happy Turkey Day everyone!

You are breaking the Costco rule of only getting things you can carry…unless you actually did carry it all, that would have been impressive to see w/ the twin pack of milk.
I think Safeway is doing a similar gift card deal but you have to spend more…there might still be a 4X the fuel rewards on gift card purchases, that would make it even better.

I know, I just need to stop going to Costco. π

I did $100 to Lowe’s for garden supplies in the spring. Plus $50 Kohl’s (for a freebie deal that I missed out on – NOW WHAT DO I DO??) + $50 to Amazon that I was going to spend for gift cards for my mom/sis for Xmas anyways. Used one $20 catalina for the BOGO turkey wyb $35 of other stuff last week – 2 free 17lb turkeys and after other coupons only spent $24.50 on a bunch of needed stuff (pet supplies, et etc. Have one $20 cat left to spend and plan to get another $100 Lowe’s card on Mon before the promo ends. The question remains — how best to spend $40 in catalinas? One by Tues, one the week after? I saw divinity in the store last week though, def getting a batch of that! Last year I got $80 in free groceries by buying $400 in Lowe’s cards. Used those cards this fall when I bought my new condo and did some refinishing/fixing up before moving in. I LOVE FREE MONEY!

I love it when this deal comes around too. π
