My local grocery store {Albertsons} has 2 pound loaves of Tillamook cheese on sale this week for only $3.99 each. Since this is our favorite cheese, I went ahead and picked up a loaf and brought it directly to the deli counter and had it sliced for sandwiches.
You might think that’s a little weird, but when an 8 ounce package of Tillamook pre-sliced cheese is selling for $2.99 a package, getting the 2 pound loaf of cheese sliced in the deli is a HUGE savings.
What would you rather have?
{4} 8-ounce packages of cheese for $11.96 or
{1} 2 pound loaf sliced in the deli for $3.99?

That is a killer deal! Oh, location location location. Our Albertson’s has the same cheese on sale for…
$7.99!
Though I did get some a couple of weeks ago at the same store for $5.99.

i know one of my stores would do it for free, they even cook your crab legs and lobster tails for you if you bring them to the seafood department.

I’ve done that as well as buying a ham and having the butcher slice it for me. Both the deli and the butcher said they will do it as long as the store isn’t crowded; if there’s a boat load of people, no way because then the secret is out and they will stop. I wish I lived out west again and could shop at Albertson’s again!

I have been doing this for years. The first time I told my other half to do it he was stunned it was even an option!
ALSO many grocery store meat departments will also sharpen your knives for you for free!

Fred Meyer had it last week for the same price and we picked up three. We eat a LOT of cheese in our house, so it was a great deal.

Well Then, what a great idea….
I have no idea if this would work where I live, but you can bet I will check into it, if the opportunity comes up. As one of your commentators commented, I will wait till there are no folks at the deli counter, and give it a try…
thks for the great idea.

Last I knew, our deli would even cut a turkey on half. I always stock up on turkey after Thanksgiving when they are practically giving them away. Periodically through the year, I will cook a half in the oven covered (easier to cover a half and keeps in the moisture), debone, and use in freezer recipes that call for shredded chicken. A half is also nice if you aren’t going to have a large crowd for Thanksgiving.

One store in our area will slice boneless hams for me. Another won’t. Never thought to do it with cheese though. Sweet.

I had no idea that my cheese loaf could be sliced in the deli! I’m going to take advantage of that from now on! Tillamook is also our favorite cheese. Love it.
