Big purchase of the week $1.99 {local gas station}
Yesterday I went down to the basement to grab something out of the pantry and on the way there I passed by a bin of acrylic paints sitting on a shelf. A spark went off and before I knew it I had grabbed a canvas and painted three row boats in the ocean. The whole picture took me a whopping 20 minutes. And now I have something to hang on the wall in our dining nook.
As I walked upstairs to wash the paint off my hands I was like… oh wait, I was supposed to be getting something for dinner.
I just laughed. Because if I could use two words to describe my life right now, they would be distracted and paint. I painted SO MANY things this past week, and my to-do list last week only had 1 painting project on it!
Some weeks you feel like going all out when it comes to meal time. Other times it’s just a matter of shoving something in your mouth so you can get back to what you were doing. To get on with it. To move on to the next project. To keep going at a good pace because you know once winter arrives all you’re going to want to do is stay inside and bake scones, make pot roasts in the oven and try out new soup recipes in the crockpot.
Life. It has a funny way of giving you what you need, when you need it.
Some of us need more sleep… and others, well, not so much. 🙂
Hey! It’s Monday, get out there and have some fun. Life is meant to be ENJOYED.

Wow! I love the picture you painted! You seem happiest when you live freely! When “distracted and paint” happens in the same week, you seem to shine! Good for you! I’m glad you’re at the stage in life where you can just let loose and live! I laughed at your “big purchase of the week” as $1..99 on milk. Thanks for inspiring us to just enjoy life and get done what we can before winter comes! You’re a true inspiration, Mavis! LOVE your beach walks and just how much you get done in life! You go, Girl!!

The “pickety bits” of food is such a good idea. You get the protein, fruit and dairy you need without an eleborate meal. I agree, winter will be the hunker down and make roasts, chili, roasted chicken, breads, etc. Mavis, I must have missed “why” you left Washington for Maine. Was it family, retirement, change of scenery? Maine is beautiful, but so is Washington.
