Some stories are better told through pictures… this is one of them.
General Store $23.67
The cheese flavored English muffins were an impulse item {the HH, not me}.
First trip to Market Basket since early April and they STILL won’t let you use your own bags.
I don’t even like those dehydrated fried onions… Maybe I had Thanksgiving on my mind? Costco $558.80
There’s a story in there somewhere, right? But I think I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on this one. It’s more fun that way. 😉
Have a great Monday everyone, try and stay out of trouble.
Peace Out.
~Mavis

What a blessing for you to know at so early an age that life, indeed, does not have to be complicated. You’re ahead of the game, Mavis!
I read you every single day and always learn something, smile, and or chuckle. I thank you for that!
Oh, and if you need to thaw out sometime this winter, I have room here in Georgia waiting!
Annette L. says
That Costco trip was sure expensive! $558.80???? Unless I’m not seeing something. But I always enjoy looking at your grocery trips.
Annette L. says
Silly me! Just realized the Costco price was divided between the 2 pictures. With that much meat, I can see spending that much.
Lori says
I have a feeling somebody found her island!
RebekahU says
Exactly what I was thinking!! Sticking up so that staying on the island is not impossible!!
RebekahU says
Stocking … not sticking!
Christa H. says
hmmm…last time I saw McDonalds y’all were house hunting! Looks like you won a basket
Tracey says
Yup… I agree. I’m guessing you’re moving. Or renting on your island for a while to see if you like it.
Shannon says
I agree with moving too! 🙂
Elise in the SF Bay Area says
Me too!!!
Annette says
I thought McDonald’s was only for an anniversary dinner.
Mama Cook says
Gonna’ have to chime in with the others! “Sore muscles from lifting, eating like a trucker”, a gift basket with wine (that you won’t drink),
Looks like your about to embark on a new adventure! Can’t wait to hear the whole story!
Jamie says
Well I do hope you share the story! Right now I’d say you aren’t buying groceries for the rest of 2020! Or til next spring. lol
Vicki Rossiter says
It looks like you have stocked up with no intention of going shopping the rest of the year. Except milk and bread. I know you have always said you don’t like shopping around the holidays. It also looks like you got a nice gift basket. Maybe you are going on a trip..not moving
Nancy D says
I was thinking enough groceries To last for the year also!
Jeanine says
I didn’t see any butter, olive oil or vinegar….I guess you can get some of that later as needed. Oh and what about charcoal for the bbq. Also, I see lots of cereal for your HH. And do you have plenty of tea on hand? Enjoy the winter and hooking up a storm. I too enjoy your post in the morning. You never fail to entertain us.
Susan says
Strange, my Market Basket (in MA) has allowed reusable bags for the past month or so. Maybe it’s a state or town ordinance. Our store even has a big sign about it in the windows.
Annette says
I see your Rao’s sauce. Has anyone tried the Rao’s frozen entrees, such as lasagna, etc? I saw them in Target.
Alice says
Yesterday I commented that I thought you were moving.
I guess that is the reason for NOT going to all the work of painting the kitchen cabinets.
Also, now that the girl isn’t there anymore, it gives you even more freedom.
Mary says
I see Doritos. Is monkey boy plus additional family coming for visit?
Marcia says
You bought a new house? (the basket?) You will not need to shop for the rest of the year? (That Costco trip)
DIANE DODGE says
I laughed when I saw the McDonalds! Whenever i go “to the city” I can’t resist getting at least french fries somewhere. As a NC transplant to Maine I do wish Portland or Augusta would get a Chick Fil-a–I make anyone who comes “from away” bring me at least 5–they freeze nicely. I once drove 2.5 hours to Bangor and bought 10! And I know it is a bridge too far, but I still dream of Bojangles Chicken Biscuits. I planted my own collards, so I’ll have those for New Years, but my okra failed miserably–I got a late start with it and the grasshoppers stripped all 10 plants in an hour while I was away on an errand. I was dumbfounded! They didn’t bother much else in the garden and fed the birds gloriously. What’s all this talk about moving? Please don’t–I enjoy your blog!
Joely says
OMG! The suspense is killing me!!!
Pat says
What?…No GoodnPlenty?
Margery says
Winter stock up shopping, and I would say that you won two baskets at a auction. Hamburger is a date night.
Cindy Brick says
Don’t feel bad. This looks way more ‘real world’ than some of your weekly reports on food consumed. I have a HH also who’s retired — but he only cooks once a week, and we don’t have a barbecue!
I have a special request. I’ve LOVED your mom’s freebie Christmas packages to you and your kids. Won’t you post something about the 2019 version?
Nancy says
I’m thinking you have already moved! Fill us in, Mavis! I’ll get my cup of coffee ready and settle in to hear all about it. Your blog is SO much fun!
Gail C. says
I had two thoughts on your post. Either the neighbor gave you a gift basket for the beach
chairs OR someone got engaged.
Sheri Lin says
Looks like you sold your place, stocked up on food for a road trip to your new home in Minnesota?? You and the HH have a new career. House flippers. Safe travels wherever you go.
debbie in alaska says
Right? Good for them! Can’t wait to see what comes next
debbie in alaska says
Only my guess is that they found a place on one of the outlying islands around Maine!
Heidi P says
Although I won’t be shocked if you are moving. You finished so many projects this past year! I think it was your turn for a neighborhood costco trip. Your neighbors have been so kind to bring you items back when they shop at Costco and I think it was payback time in addition to you stocking up for the next few months. If I recall Costco is pretty far away so maybe lunch was good ol’ Mickey D’s!
