General Store $14.00
So apparently ordering a pizza with pineapple as a topping up in these parts isn’t all that common 😉 The HH found that out when he picked up our pizza this week at the general store. Also, when you order a pizza at the general store, they don’t ask for your name {or number even} they just write down what you want, and when you go in to pick it up they ask you what’s on the pizza.
So weird! But hey, everybody’s got a system, right?
General Store $18.16
Mom and Pop stores might be a teensy bit higher, but SO WORTH it. No crowds, no carts, no silly store cards, no games or razzle dazzle, just a handful of nice people that know you by name {or your order} and that’s it.
1 1/2 percent milk! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I have no idea why the general store stocks 1 1/2% milk instead of 2% but hey, you know what? I think I like the 1 1/2% better.
The Girl came to visit and brought me cucumbers and apples. 🙂
I love chopped apples on a salad, don’t you?
Because we are old people now, we split sandwiches.
Big salad.
Costco’s chicken tortilla soup. Have you tried it? We love it.
Chicken salad with apples, relish and dried cranberries.
The HH cooks! Breaded chicken, mash and corn.
And last but not least… pickety bits. 🙂 YUM YUM YUM.
I didn’t make as many Crock Pot soups/meals as I had planned on because it was pretty warm last week {and will be for a few more days} but I sure am looking forward to settling in once those cooler temps arrive.
Life is good.
Have a wonderful Monday everyone,
~Mavis

I recognize pretty much everything on your pickety bits platter except those purple/black sticks. What is that?
Tanya says
Pocky! I think they are Korean. They are chocolate covered cookie sticks. My daughter and I enjoy them.
Gail C. says
Pocky is a treat from Japan that is found in supermarkets/stores all over the world. In the United
States they usually only carry assorted chocolate or strawberry sticks but Pocky actually comes in
dozens of flavors. I have bought the other flavors at Japanese stores.

I’m an older “people” than you or your husband and I don’t split my sandwiches with anyone:) I’ve never had chopped apple on a regular salad.
Susan says
The Little Leaf lettuce brand is so good and lasts forever, but it’s also so “fluffy” that I could eat the whole container in one serving, haha.

I grew up on milk from either Oakhurst Dairy or Hood’s and haven’t seen any since I moved out of state! Just seeing it brings back a ton of memories.
I’m sure the general store carries pizza that is requested most often. If you tell them you’ve moved in, I;m sure they’ll make an effort to put it on their regular list and it will likely look more like you expected. Maine folks are just that way.
If you ever go through Greene, Maine that is my old neck of the woods, but don’t look for entertainment or sights. Our house was right in town. Last I was there they had torn down the barn and the shed. The house was well over 200 years old when I was a kid, and used to be a stagecoach stop.
