Do you love hydrangeas? Well I do. And this past spring I spotted the most beautiful book on hydrangeas and not only had to grab a copy for myself, but a few to share as well.

There are SO MANY different varieties in this book, it’s crazy. Here I thought I had the garden of my dreams all figured out with the two varieties I love the most; Limelight and Bloomstruck.

But thanks to the book, Hydrangeas – Beautiful Varieties For Home and Garden by Naomi Slade I have a new favorite. Curly sparkle purple. 

I don’t know who sells it, but I am going to have to track a few of those plants down next summer. 

Yada, yada, yada, I LOVE hydrangeas, and if you do too, you’ll want to be sure and enter this giveaway.

Three lucky people will each win:

All you have to do to enter this giveaway is let me know what your favorite hydrangea plant of all time is {mine is the limelight hydrangea}. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.

Life, it’s pretty complicated sometimes, so I like to keep my giveaways pretty simple around here. 

Rules:

1 entry per person/ip address. If you cheat, you will totally be disqualified. {Comments may take an hour or two to be cleared, so please be patient}. 

This giveaway ends Saturday, December 7th @ 10am EST and the winners will be announced on the evening of Saturday, December 7th. You will be notified via email and have 48 hours to claim your prize. If you do not claim your prize within 48 hours, the prize will be forfeited.

    I’m new to the hydrangea game.
    We bought 2 last year, an oak leaf and an eclipse. The oak leaf was pretty until the deer munched it. The eclipse has deep almost black leaves and a crimson flower that was gorgeous. So far it’s been safe from the deer too!

    I love hot pink hydrangeas. Our florist included some in our otherwise soft pink arrangements. I would never have thought to do it, but the result was eye catching and gorgeous. Whenever I spot that color blooming it takes me right back to my wedding day.

    Bigleaf Hydrangeas. My grandmother always had them in her year. So beautiful and wonderful memories of tending to them with her

    I like broomstick Hydrangeas. I have propagated a few during the summer, so far they are surviving and haven’t been eaten by the deer.

    I bought two limelights and they have made numerous babies that I need to dig up and move!
    I also have 4 that were small and blue that I bought at a grocer. I planted them and they are on they have grown 4 times their size so far.

    Actually I am not sure which is my favorite Hydrangea. I lost a whole row of them in hurricane Helene. I live near Asheville, NC. The book would be helpful to pick out some to plant in the spring. They were taken out by four one hundred foot Oak trees.

    What a beautiful book! I’m amazed how many colors and varieties there are to choose from. My new favorite is the oak leaf hydrangea. They are my favorite cut flower as well, long lasting!

    My mother has a few hydrangeas that I love! While I don’t know which variety they are, I love how they fill out each summer and the color of the blooms.

    Don’t know the name but my M.I.L. has a beautiful dark purple/burgandy one with huge study head that last forever as cut flowers!! Love em!!!! ( and her!)

    I’ve got 3 varieties in my yard (Nikko, limelight and lace cap) all of which I love. I can’t pick a favorite. But I was given an unknown to me variety in a bouquet which the book may help me identify!

    Not sure what the variety is, maybe big leaf?, but my favorite is the huge one in my front yard that just explodes with blooms every year.

    I don’t know its name, but a neighbor’s hydrangea has the most beautiful blue blooms. I just pulled out 2 overgrown spirea bushes in front of my porch and I’d decided to replace them with a row of hydrangeas – this book would help me decide which variety I like best.

    It’s really hard to choose just one favorite as they are all so beautiful in their own ways. I do especially love those lace cap varieties, specifically Endless Summer.

    I have no idea the name of the hydrangea that I have since I inherited them with the house we bought. We moved them to a new location and they are absolutely beautiful with three different color flowers! I need some help learning how to care for them though

    I like the big pink ones, no idea what variety. Tommy loves the oak leaf. Every year and all year long he asks me what they are.

    I used to have an hydrangea plant in my yard but there was confusion as to where the property line was and it was removed by my former neighbor. So, I would say my favorite hydrangea would be one that is alive and well in my yard. It doesn’t matter what color it is, along as its a healthy plant. I love every color.

    I love them all, but have none near me. I was in Cape Cod this summer and was insanely jealous that they just seem to bloom everywhere! I saw a deep raspberry colored one that was definitely the winner for me.

    There’s not a hydrangea I don’t look at and smile. But I think Nikko Blue are the ones I enjoy the most.

    I love them all but a friend had the most gorgeous ones on her back yard many years ago and I don’t know the variety. She had them cut and all over her house. I do love the Snow Queen ones on my backyard. They have gotten huge over the 25 years they have been there but make a horrible mess when they are brought inside.

    Hydrangea’s are so beautiful in flower and the bloom lasts forever. The curly sparkle flower looks kinda like a geranium. Now I need to google the wee bit grumpy.

    I enjoy hydrangeas but am not well versed in their types and names. I would say I enjoy the colors and want to learn more about the different variations. I did some searching on Google and find that the very open large variety called Macrophylla are very attractive to me. Thanks for having these giveaways! They’re fun and thoughtful.

    I love them all, but especially my white oak leaf hydrangea (this variety feeds pollinators) and my pink climbing hydrangea (Schizophragma hydrangeoides ‘Roseum’). It’s my dream to have every tall oak in my back covered with Roseum someday. Imagine–30 feet of flowers on every trunk!

    I would treasure the book and use the heck out of those shears.

    My neighbor had a beautiful blue hydrangea in her yard that I always admired, although I don’t know what kind it was. I guess I need the book!

    I love hydrangeas! My favorite is called Annabelle Hydrangea. There is a garden here in Oregon that has them planted in a hedge and it is spectacular in bloom.

    We currently have 4 types of hydrangeas and only recently realized how many other types there are! Limelight are the easiest of our 4 types to grow/avoid getting munched on by bugs/destroyed by mildew, etc but I currently still favor the classic look of Endless Summer hydrangeas the best.

    Looking forward to reading about hydrangeas growing/caring tips if you choose to share as you discover new varieties.

    My absolute FAVE is Oakleaf Hydrangea. So easy to care for and grows into a huge gorgeous display of white flowers. The leaves turn such lovely colors in the fall too!

    Those are so pretty! I bought some hydrangeas at the end of summer called Eclipse. The plant is a deep purple with green veins and the flower is supposed to be a dark pinkish red with a lighter center. I really hope they bloom next summer.

    While working as a horticulturist, at a country club, I ripped out an old hedgerow, and installed limelight hydrangeas. It was at the golf club entrance. The members loved them, I still do.

    I don’t know what variety they are but I’m loving the hydrangeas in front of my porch. This year they started out green, were blue all summer and going into winter now they are deep, deep purple and still looking fantastic.

    I absolutely love all Hydrangeas but I planted Endless Summer Hydrangeas when we moved to our new home in Oregon and they have done so well and bloom from spring to fall! A real winner!

    I love Hydrangeas and have tons of them planted around my house with hopes to add more! A girl can never have too many hydrangeas, right!? We enjoy having the dried blooms indoors also. I love Pink Lady Slippers and Limelight.

    I love all hydrangeas but my favorite one is Hydrangea Macrophylla which has either blue or pink blooms. I always cut a few stems of hydrangeas to bring to my 98 year old mom who lives in an adult family home. She had the most beautiful yard and flower garden and I know she misses it.

    I love the big blouzy blue and purple mopheads and I have a hydrangea garden here. I’m actually propagating a few cuttings of pink lace caps from last summer and they’re growing! Glad you chose this as a giveaway. Thanks Mavis.

    I don’t know the name of my favorite hydrangea, but it is the blue one in my yard that my Mom brought a cutting from my childhood neighborhood that is easily 85 years old. It is SO beautiful and is always full of blooms and brings back such wonderful memories.

    I’m not good with hydrangeas. I have never been able to grow them. My mom was a great gardener and she raised the prettiest hydrangeas. They were blue and looked liked Endless Summer. Although, I don’t think they had many species or hybrids in the 70’s.

    I love my Little Lime Hydrangea. I love the lime green color and how it changes into dark pinks and purples. So lovely!

    I love, love, love hydrangeas and I have about 16 varieties on my property –all types. But my favorite is a sleeper named ‘Pia’. The most glorious antiqued charteuse, white, pink, raspberry, blue, lavender and royal purple, all on one plant!

    I’ve just bet gifted the vanilla strawberry hydrangea which looks stunning in pictures— this was for a bereavement gift, so I don’t need hydrangea … but the fuskars… now that’s another story- I would love those!

    Growing up, my mother was a florist and I helped her many times with arrangements. Always loved putting a single large hydrangea bloom in the arrangement. She had several bushes growing in the yard and I loved watching them change color as they went through the season. I would love the book and shears. I don’t have any growing where I live now but would love choosing some from the book to plant in my yard.

    I love this giveaway! I don’t know what the variety is called but I love the ones that start out blush & end up blue.

    The house we just bought has a few tall, skinny hydrangeas that need lots of TLC to regain their shape. They’re probably embarrassed by the way they look, to be honest ha! I’ve never had one before, although it’s been a dream of mine. I’m excited to see what kind they are, but I have a feeling they’re limelights since that’s so popular here in Southern Maine. I love how that variety changes colors, so I hope that’s what they are. I’m hoping I can bring them back to a more natural shape without hurting them.

    I can’t remember the name but I love the ones that start out white and turn pink/salmon – something like cotton candy – I got a couple when we lived in CT and they were beautiful.

    I love the Annabelle hydrangea. Such a classic! We were in Ireland this fall and they have the most beautiful hydrangeas. We saw quite a few that were the most beautiful burgundy color.

    I love the Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea, a friend gave me a bouquet of four of them, they dry beautifully! I still have them in a vase with some eucalyptus :0)

    I had no idea there were so many varieties! The Limelight are stunning, and I’m also partial to the Endless Summer- my parents have a beautiful one that I attempted to save some seeds from this year, we’ll see if I can get them to germinate.

    My favorite is an inherited Limelight whose blooms I experienced “twice” this year when I traveled to my daughter’s northern climate and enjoyed another round of Limelight in late summer!

    I live on the water in NJ and hydrangeas love it here! I ha e planted 7 so far and one was already here. At my old house the deer would eat them!
    I think my favorite are the ones with two types of blooms, but I will take any!!

    I actually don’t have any hydrangeas currently but will likely be moving in the late winter/early spring, and excited to plan out my new yard. The purple of the BloomStruck Hydrangea looks lovely.

    The white ones in my yard. ‘Old timey’ because no one remembers the name. Cuttings have been passed down for generations.
    Hardy (except for deer), huge white flowers that bloom early all summer.
