This past week was a good one both in the meal department as well as the food shopping department. I was able to get a few freezer meals out of some of our leftovers, I tried a few new recipes and there was sun, glorious sun and daytime temps in the mid 60’s.
It was fantastic!
Here’s a look at the meals we ate last week.
Pot roast, peas, parsnips {from the garden!}.
Leftover pot roast soup.
Roast chicken dinner with peas, potatoes and pineapple.
Chicken taco soup.
Black bean soup.
Baked mac and cheese.
Pancakes with blueberry syrup.
And there was bread pudding! It was glorious.
Now on to the sweet deal I scored at Shaw’s.

-$1.00 off {2} Simply Orange Juice 52 ounce or larger {digital coupon}
-$3.00 off any produce {rewards coupons}

$3.74 after deals/coupons
I used to roll my eyes at the Shaw’s ad with its two tiered pricing, {It reminds me of Safeway} but now I sort of look at it as a bit of a mental challenge to see just how little I can pay for a sack of groceries there.
Seriously, $3.74 for a whole chicken, 5 avocados, 4 bananas, 2 blocks of cheese and 2 bottles of orange juice… I’d say that’s pretty good.
How about YOU? Did you find any deals this week?

Great job at Shaw’s! What a good feeling that must have been to walk out with all that food for less than $4.

It reminds you of Safeway because it is Safeway! They changed the name for their east coast stores. Great deals!

I have a Shaw’s near me. I usually only shop at Market Basket but after seeing your deals I’m going to have to start paying better attention to the circular they send me every week.

Great deal at the grocery store and your meals look fantastic! I went to the nearby fruit and veggie stand and got 8 pounds of strawberries for $14.95. I also got some beautiful green beans and fingerling potatoes and we had a restaurant quality dinner with the halibut from the freezer that I had my husband cook. I paired some sliced strawberries with cheesecake pudding and crunched up graham crackers for dessert and it was delicious! I washed and froze the rest of the strawberries for future milkshakes, smoothies etc.
When I was at the fruit and veggie stand, an older couple was also shopping. I saw them arrive- she was on a 3 wheeled bike and he was walking their little dog. They purchased a few things and I heard them tell the cashier that they live in a nearby subdivision and are so happy when the stand opens because they come every day for fruit and veggies. I loved that so much!

I love that they visit the veggie stand every day!

That’s a great deal – wow!
Not a huge deal here, but I got an offer from Thrive Market of some free beef sticks with purchase, and they are something we normally order anyway. There’s a minimum order, so I just changed the date of my autoship planned for the end of the month and got the freebies.
Mavis Butterfield says
Who doesn’t love a freebie? 🙂

Piggly Wiggly always has a free item with $10 purchase. It is not hard to spend that amount. Last time we got Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. Even if I don’t use the item, I get it and give it away to someone who needs all the help she can get. And, I shop bobo items heavily at Publix. The market opens this next week, so I am looking forward to fresh strawberries.

Great job on the groceries!!

Wow. I really need to start paying attention to coupons and using them while things are on sale. That was a great haul for you!
Last week I spent the days at my parents’ house (spring break), helping them get the spring cleanup done. Many meals were simple, chicken patties and tots, green beans and leftover ham, or even just ham sandwiches when the temps got up to 88! I left my brother at home, and he tried to cook pork chops and potatoes…. both of which turned out blackened… Need I say more? I think he burnt more food than he ate. He did eat a tuna casserole and some homemade freezer burritos while I was gone.
Have a wonderful week!
