Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
The HH was near Trader Joe’s a few days ago so he stopped by and picked up a cartful of goodness. I’ll share what he bought tomorrow, but he did say the store was stocked full of all sorts of spring flowers.
Visit 24 {new} Bakeries / Coffee Shops
We visited pastry shop #5! The pastries were so pretty though, they deserve a post of their own so I’ll wait and tell you where we went and what we tried soon. 🙂
New Bakeries / Coffee Shops I’ve Been To This Year:
- Ritual Bakehouse and Patisserie
- Standard Baking Co.
- Saltwater Farm Cafe
- Coffee Roasters of the Kennebunks
Go On An Adventure
Planning for my first adventure for the year is in the works. But first there are still a few things I need to do first.
Contribute to 12 Free Little Libraries. {3 town down, 9 to go}
While I didn’t contribute to any free little libraries this past week, I did pick up 2 craft books at the library book sale. Once I get a few more I’ll donate another round of craft books to a random free little library.
You hardly ever see craft books in them, so that’s my “book” mission this year.
Towns I’ve donated books to:
- Gardiner, Maine
- Nobleboro, Maine
- Kennebunk and Kennebunkport
Tidy Up / Clean Out / Purge
I plan on going through the kitchen drawers this week and going through all the utensils…. Is it just me, or is your utensil drawer overflowing too? How does that happen!?
- Barn
- Garage
- Closets
- Dresser drawers
- Kitchen
- Sideboard
DVD collection
Read or Listen to 24 Books {4 down, 20 to go}
My current wait time for Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner is 8 months.
Books I’ve Read or Listened To This Year:
- Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service by Gary Sinise. 10/10
- Elizabeth The Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch by Sally Bedell Smith 9/10
- Wait Till Next Year by Dorris Kearns Goodwin 8/10
- George VI and Elizabet:by Sally Bedell Smith 9/10
- Steve Jobs by Walter Issacson 9/10
- These Precious Days by Ann Pachett 9.5/10
Spend More Time At The Beach
It was a good week for walking along the shore. I loaded up on clam shells and driftwood and probably walked about 15 miles over the past few days. The sound of waves crashing, it never gets old.
Paint
I am currently working “Goldfish” By Henri Matisse. I’m not so sure about the colors as I usually go for blues… But we’ll see.
So far I’ve finished:
- Portrait of Joseph Roulin
- Red Boats at Argenteuil
- Regattas at Argenteuil
- Vase with Cornflowers and Poppies
- Sunflowers
- Garden Path with Chickens
In Stock and Ready to Ship by March 15th/ March 30th Now April 15th
My original goal was to have all my wool dyed by March 15th and my patterns drawn and kits made up by March 30th… But now I need to extend that deadline by 2 more weeks.
Which is totally fine in my book because another snowstorm is in the forecast for later this week which means I can’t work in the garden yet anyways. The key is to get everything done BEFORE gardening season. If I can do that, an extra 2 weeks to finish everything up isn’t going to matter in the big picture.
Hook 6 “Big” Rugs.
I was able to finish my big three roosters rug a few days ago and I love how it turned out! I’ve decided to hook a few smaller rugs before starting on another big one to give myself a bit of a break.
Large Rugs I’ve Hooked This Year
Visit 6 Greenhouses {that I’ve never been to before}.
No visits to any greenhouses this past week, but I already know which one I want to go to first.
Grow Baby Grow
While most people around the country are enjoying daffodils and tulips in their yard, mine are still only about 3 inches tall. Luckily though I’ve been able hone in on my indoor gardening skills this winter thanks to all the wonderful potted plants at Trader Joe’s.
Donate to 12 Different Organizations in Maine
Nothing new to report in the donations department this past week but I’ve started a list and I’m looking forward to making my 4th donation to a local Maine charity in April.
So Far This Year I’ve Donated To:
- New Hope MidCoast {50 pairs of new socks}
- Humane Society {180 trays of cat food}
*I still need to Drop off the art supplies to Camp Sunshine
So how are YOUR goals for 2024 coming along? I’d love to hear about them.

Morning, Mavis! I saw the article below and thought of you. You must be supercharging your brain! My Mammaw was still sharp as a tack well into her 90s and she was a hand quilter.

That was a really interesting article, thank you for sharing. I’m convinced they are into something there. Both my grandmother and great aunt, sewed into their late 80s/ 90s.

If you’re in the Boston metro area, I recommend stopping by the bakery Tatte. It now has more than a dozen locations in Boston,l. I’ve only been a few times, but everything was lovely and tasted delicious.

Years ago I knit a dress for Barbie. It was a simple rectangle in which you dropped a few stitches up a few rows from the bottom then spread the knitting to make a flared sheathe. A shorter piece with dropped stitches was then made to make a top that simply slipped over Barbie’s head to cover her shoulders. I was so proud of myself! 🙂
Torry says
I make approximately five hundred Barbie dresses each year. I am impressed by anyone who can knit or crochet. You should be proud of yourself for completing the outfit!
I really hope that all of my sewing helps keep me brain young. (I also make clothes, gifts and quilts.)

500!!!

That picture of the clump of seaweed on the beach looks like color inspiration for a hooked or knitted piece. I’m thinking of Kate Davies new book called “Color” which takes her husband’s photos and translates them into yarn inspiration.
