Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Iwouldn’t exactly say I ate a lot of fruits and vegetables this past week. But I think that’s a story for tomorrow. 😉
Visit 24 {new} Bakeries / Coffee Shops
No new bakeries this past week and quite honestly, I am a bit surprised at myself that I am lagging behind on this goal as it was probably the one I was most looking forward to checking off my list early.
All in good time though, right? But also add to the fact that I am a bit of a pastry snob and have no problem walking out of a coffee/pastry shop if their treats look like they were a Sysco food service item. Pastries. I have standards.
New Bakeries / Coffee Shops I’ve Been To This Year:
- Ritual Bakehouse and Patisserie
- Caramel Patisserie
- Standard Baking Co.
- Saltwater Farm Cafe
- Coffee Roasters of the Kennebunks
Go On An Adventure
I am headed on a mini adventure soon! Not the one that involves the special box that arrived last month but a mini holiday nonetheless. I’ll tell you more about it soon.
Contribute to 12 Free Little Libraries. {3 town down, 9 to go}
I didn’t contribute to any free little libraries this week nor did I pick up any new books at the library sale. I was too busy with a secret project I’ve been working on and had to stay on task.
Towns I’ve donated books to:
- Gardiner, Maine
- Nobleboro, Maine
- Kennebunk and Kennebunkport
Tidy Up / Clean Out / Purge DONE
Every single room I wanted to go through and purge the unnecessary items from and all the areas that I wanted to clean… Has been done! Mission spring cleaning has been accomplished.

Spend More Time At The Beach
It was a great week for walking on the beach. Lucy hunted for mini crunchy crabs and I found 3 heart shaped rocks. Fact: Walking on the beach has a calming effect.
Paint
I finally finished “Goldfish” by Henri Matisse. And I’m still not crazy about it. I think it’s all the orange and yellows that is throwing me off. I told the HH I was going to toss it and he told me not to. He said it would look good in a greenhouse.
Then I reminded him that we DON’T HAVE A GREENHOUSE and he still said I should keep it. Maybe he knows something I don’t? We’ll see.
So far I’ve finished:
- Portrait of Joseph Roulin
- Red Boats at Argenteuil
- Regattas at Argenteuil
- Vase with Cornflowers and Poppies
- Sunflowers
- Garden Path with Chickens
In Stock and Ready to Ship by March 15th/ March 30th Now April 15th DONE!
I finally finished up all the major wool dyeing and pattern/kit making I had hoped too. All the “extra” wool is tucked away in bins so if I run out of wool in my Etsy shop I can whip up some more bundles in a jiffy. A summer off from dyeing wool… It’s going to be pretty rad.
Hook 6 “Big” Rugs.
I just started a new {small} design. Hoping to have it finished by the end of the week.
Large Rugs I’ve Hooked This Year
Visit 6 Greenhouses {that I’ve never been to before}.
No visits to any greenhouses this past week, but I already know which one I want to go to first.
Grow Baby Grow
I spotted a bunch of daffodils in someone’s yard the other day and now I can’t stop thinking about them! I adore this variety and am looking forward to placing my bulb order in another month or two.
Donate to 12 Different Organizations in Maine
We went to the mall the other day {for the first time in forever} and they’ve got prom dresses in stock!!! The HH patiently waited while I went up and down the aisles to see if there was anything I NEEDED. 🙂
I LOVE prom dresses. I went to all the dances in high school and I just think they {the dresses} are magical. I’d have a whole closet full of them if it wouldn’t be such a weird thing. And if I had somewhere to wear them.
Isn’t there an organization that allows girls to shop for donated dresses for free? Maybe I could swoop some up when they go on clearance and donate them somewhere. Anyone know?
So Far This Year I’ve Donated To:
- New Hope MidCoast {50 pairs of new socks}
- Humane Society {180 trays of cat food}
- Travil Mills Foundation
*I still need to Drop off the art supplies to Camp Sunshine
So how are YOUR goals for 2024 coming along? I’d love to hear about them.

The green to orange/red looks out of balance in the painting. Maybe it is because all the orange and red are concentrated in the center?
I got another 20 plants in the ground this week (zone 7b) from my winter sowing collection including 4 tomato plants and a dozen sweet potato slips. The lupines and hyssop I planted out two weeks ago seem to be taking well in our heavy clay soil. I have plans this week to slow down in the garden and do our final spring cleaning push through the bedrooms.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I love your painting! I’m instantly soothed when I look at it. Please don’t throw it away. Breaks my heart to think of that!
Tracey says
hold onto it! someone will admire it and then you can gift it away –

In our area we have a Cinderella’s closet where girls can come in a get a free prom dress from donated dresses. Maybe they’d have one in your area.
Katelyn says
I think you should do a special sale on your Etsy page of the painting you don’t love and then donate the proceeds to an organization that does art therapy. Everyone wins!
Annette says
Maybe HH is going to surprise you with a greenhouse for Mother’s day?? So you can hang up the goldfish.
KC says
Yep, we have a donated prom shop in our local area! I finally sent some off to them this year, and it was great. The YMCA collects and packs away dresses (and shoes and accessories) all year, and then there’s a specific weekend when they turn some of their event space into the (free) Dress Shop, which is when most people come in to pick theirs out. Individuals can also contact them for an appointment at other times, though. It looks like there’s a Cinderella Project in Maine, maybe with a jeweler cooperating to adopt dresses all year long?
If you do grab clearance ones, maybe veer towards the larger sizes? It’s easier to take a dress in than let it out, and then there’s more likelihood that everyone can find *something* that fits at the donation shop. 🙂 Hooray for fairy godmothers!

If you don’t get a greenhouse or don’t want to donate the painting, I think it would be an awesome and special giveaway from.your blog. What do the readers think? Bet does some heartily agree. It is quite nice. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The red, greens, and yellows are what I LIKE about the painting. It’s the pink that throws me.

Those daffodils are beautiful.
Who says you can’t garden in a gown? Don’t you have an old post from years ago where you bought yourself a beautiful gown?
I don’t know of any free gown offerings in my town but some of the local schools held $20 dress sales selling donated dresses- all on dates we had other plans. My kids don’t really have ‘prom’ because we home school, but one of the homeschool groups organizes an amazing Ball for the kids. Thank God for second hand shops. One daughter got her dress for $19.99, one borrowed from a cousin, and the other two were $4.50 & $4.99. alterations done by a family member for a small fee= perfection! Probably paid less for 4 gowns including alterations than some pay for one.

We have a lovely bed of those Poetica bulbs – planted in memory of my dear mother in law who also adored them. Their fragrance is brings back so many memories. Don’t skimp!

The Cinderella Project has a location in Belfast, Maine and they have also partnered with Day’s Jewelers to accept donations. When I lived in Maine I was able to donate directly to the high school in my area. You might reach out there first.
