Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Not only was it another great week in the meal department, but Lucy got a few treats as well.
Including her all time favorite thing, crusty crabs from the beach. {Don’t worry, I didn’t let her eat the whole thing.} Lucy LOVES hunting for baby crabs. This week though she found the biggest one ever though and she was pretty excited about that.
Visit 24 {new} Bakeries / Coffee Shops
Yee-Haw! I found another coffee shop that I like, Cape Porpoise Kitchen. Does it still count as a coffee shop if they do more than coffee or baked goods? Not only does Cape Porpoise Kitchen have the best ginger molasses cookies around, but they have prepared foods {made fresh every morning!} and freezer meals too.
What’s not to love about that!? 🙂
New Bakeries / Coffee Shops I’ve Been To This Year {That I liked}
- The Cookie Jar Pastry Shop
- Ritual Bakehouse and Patisserie
- Caramel Patisserie
- Standard Baking Co.
- Saltwater Farm Cafe
- Coffee Roasters of the Kennebunks
- Farine Bakery and Cafe
- Night Moves Bread
- Cape Porpoise Kitchen
Go On An Adventure
Well, we’re on an adventure. If you can count moving out of the airbnb and into another temporary housing situation an adventure. 🙂
When we moved out of our house, we weren’t expecting it to take so long to find and close on a house so we only booked an airbnb for a specific amount of time. And well, our time was up at the old place {and they had new guests coming} and so now we’re in a new place.
It’s much, MUCH smaller, {maybe 350 square feet?} but it’s just steps from good walking and the beach {a major bonus!}. Plus the place is newer and has a sweet little patio out back. AND IT HAS AIR CONDITIONING!!!
Which is a MAJOR plus because the day we moved out of the old airbnb it was 90 degrees and we were all starting to get a wee bit sticky.
Contribute to 12 Free Little Libraries. {6 town down, 6 to go}
I went to the library a few days ago to see if they had any new craft books that were donated {and available to purchase} and I found one.
For $2 I came home with Selbu Mittens: Discover the Rich History of a Norwegian Knitting Tradition with Over 500 Charts and 35 Classic Patterns. I am not a knitter {and have no desire to learn} and bought the book solely to redistribute it to a free little library somewhere.
But then I found out the book is going for $42-$50 on the used book market. HOLY COW MAN.
Yada yada yada… Once we get situated, I am going to sell the book {along with some of MY other craft books}. I’m all about sharing the love of crafts, but every once in a while I unintentionally find a used book that is worth a pretty penny online and just can’t resist the urge to re-sell it.
Have YOU ever sold any of your old books online? What site do you use?
Towns I’ve donated books to:
- Gardiner, Maine
- Nobleboro, Maine
- Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, Maine
- Cape Elizabeth, Maine
- Raymond, Maine

Visit 6 Greenhouses {that I’ve never been to before}.
We visited a new greenhouse. I had been wanting to visit this particular place for a while now as I had heard they have every plant imaginable. I’ll tell you all about it and give you a proper tour soon but holy canolies man, it was pretty spectacular!
Grow Baby Grow
Have you ordered your spring bulbs yet? After much deliberation I finally made a decision and decided on Amazing Grace tulips {pictured above} and Pheasant’s Eye daffodils for the garden.
I thought the Amazing Grace variety had a dreamy, sort of cottage type look to them and would be great for bouquets. What do you think?

Goals I’ve Already Completed This Year
In Stock and Ready to Ship by March 15th/ March 30th Now April 15th DONE!
I finally finished up all the major wool dyeing and pattern/kit making I had hoped too. All the “extra” wool is tucked away in bins so if I run out of wool in my Etsy shop I can whip up some more bundles in a jiffy. A summer off from dyeing wool… It’s going to be pretty rad.
Tidy Up / Clean Out / Purge DONE
We cleaned the whole house, inside and out. And then we sold it. Yee-Haw!

I would feel so free to be in your shoes and not have so much “stuff” to take care of. I’m a minimalist who even gets a bit claustrophobic when surrounded by too much clutter, but my significant other is the opposite. He feels comforted by his “stuff”. It’s a delicate balance but we’ve managed to make it work for over 25 years now.

Your paint by number looks like the American Gothic house/painting.
My Grandma lived near it when I was a kid and we visited it every summer!
Christy says
Try selling the book on ebay. I’ve sold several books there.

I love the picture of Lucy next to the water. I can’t tell where the water ends and the sky begins!
I love your adventures too!

I make a couple of spring bulb orders during the year so when they show up over the course of the fall it’s like flower Christmas over and over. Plus I purposefully “forget” what I get so it’s a happy surprise. I have tons of space for bulbs, though, so I can get away with this, especially since I ripped out my yard and installed beds 🙂

Honor Flight is a wonderful organization. My husband got to go in 2023 and he said it was a trip he would never forget.

You’re going to the Dibble House in Eldon, Iowa!
Interesting choice!
Enjoy!

Or is she going to see the painting in Chicago? Curious minds.

If you list, let me know. I’m interested in buying the book.

If you love that lovely tulip variety, look into these: La Belle Epoche, Renown Unique, Copper Image.

We had a dear elderly friend who was a WW2 veteran. He and his daughter went to DC with the Honor Flight Program. He was so excited before they left and afterwards couldn’t stop talking about it. He passed away a few months after he got back from the trip. I’m so glad he had the opportunity with this program. Thanks for mentioning it Mavis!
Allison says
The tulips ARE beautiful, and look like peonies! Bonus!!! I hope you’re back to digging in the dirt soon!
Cecelia says
No wonder you’d been showing such small parts of the painting, that window is memorable.
Your new Airbnb sounds lovely. Sometimes I wish I could live in a studio with minimal things around me. My husband, nearly 2 year old son, and 10 year old bonus daughter would have something to say about it though.

Oh my goodness when I visited Maine a few years ago we went to the Cape Porpoise Kitchen and it was AMAZING! I love all things Maine and hope to relocate there eventually in life. I squealed to see you had been there !
