Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Lunch at the Wooden Buoy Factory yesterday was a bowl of steamed broccoli.
Visit 24 {new} Bakeries / Coffee Shops
While the HH and I were in Portland last week we stopped by Belleville bakery and holy cow man. While the selection was not huge, the pastries were excellent.
In fact, I had the best almond croissant of my life there. It was perfect. The croissant was insanely flakey, and the almond paste was smooth and creamy. I had to resist getting a second one. We’ll be back!

Spend More Time At The Beach
We didn’t make it to the beach this week… Too busy with factory work. And it’s been SUPER chilly. Hopefully once all the Christmas decorations are up Lucy and I can resume our walks on the beach.
In the meantime… Check out this tree I spotted downtown! I thought it was a clever outdoor decoration. I might have to make a few of those next year.
Read or Listen to 24 Books {14 down, 10 to go}
I finsihed White House By The Sea by Kate Storey and gave it a 7/10.
Then I started Belgravia and WOW… it was SO GOOD. I wasn’t sure about it at the beginning as it was a little hard to follow with all the names, but I’m glad I kept listening.
That Jullian Fellows, he sure knows how to tell a story. I might actually listen to it again. We’ll see.

Paint
We’re still working on buoys!!! I’d say there are still about a dozen left to be painted. Then the HH will have to sand them a wee bit, then I’ll stain them and then we’ll put the ropes on them. Fingers crossed we can get it all done in time for the big reveal.
Paintings I’ve finished this year:
- Portrait of Joseph Roulin
- Red Boats at Argenteuil
- Regattas at Argenteuil
- Vase with Cornflowers and Poppies
- Sunflowers

Hook 6 “Big” Rugs.
I finished big rug #5 last night!!! Chicken Stroll rug by Crow Creek Farm I think it turned out super cute. Just one more big rug to hook before I can check this goal off my list. Normally I’d have more goals completed by now, but this year has been a super busy one.
- Three Roosters
- Hidden In The Garden
- Yankee Doodle
- Double Nantucket Whale Runner with the American flag
- Chicken Stroll
Visit 6 Greenhouses {4 down 2 to go}
No greenhouses this week.
Grow Baby Grow
So much for a Christmas amaryllis! And it was supposed to be pink!!! What happened? I guess this bulb had other plans. I think the other two I planted might be in bloom next week too. {Those look like they’ll be pink ones though}.

Goals I’ve Already Completed This Year
Go On An Adventure DONE
I went to England and had a jolly good time. And I can’t wait to go back!
In Stock and Ready to Ship by March 15th/ March 30th Now April 15th DONE!
I finally finished up all the major wool dyeing and pattern/kit making I had hoped too. All the “extra” wool is tucked away in bins so if I run out of wool in my Etsy shop I can whip up some more bundles in a jiffy. A summer off from dyeing wool… It’s going to be pretty rad.
Tidy Up / Clean Out / Purge DONE
We cleaned the whole house, inside and out. And then we sold it. Yee-Haw!

You’re so good at finding great places to donate to, but if you still need a recommendation, the folks in western NC will be hurting for at least a decade after Hurricane Helene’s devastation. BeLoved Asheville is a great one to give to. They’re in the trenches, so to speak. I live in Maine now but I spent 20 yrs in NC & am just gutted by what’s happened down there. The towns I loved are just gone & the people have been left with nothing & no way to dig out because the infrastructure is gone, too.

My son and daughter in law live in Western N. Carolina in Ashe County and it has been horrible they had lots of damage to their property but they are so very lucky compared to others. Their home is still standing and all the problems are fixed. Roads are another story getting in and out. This morning I was heart broken to see people are still living in tents in the SNOW. It is so sad and anything we donate to will be for this area for a very long time. It is so heartbreaking such a beautiful area and not sure how they will ever recover.
Erin says
I’m glad your family is okay. My parents had a tornado wipe out over 100-200 trees on their property during Helene, but it somehow missed their house. We are so grateful it wasn’t worse for them. But it’s so, so bad all around them.

Yes, As someone who lives just outside of Asheville I can say it will be a long and bumpy road ahead before we are anywhere near to being out of survival mode. I second the Beloved Asheville being a great organization to donate to as they are trying to provide campers and temporary housing now to those who currently have none due the hurricane along with lots of heaters, coats, and other supplies to help people survive as winter came early this year and it is cold!! If looking to give to some small businesses Discover Asheville has a great list going of those that are shipping items now.

I’ve added Belgravia to my list of books to listen to! As far as keeping track of characters (I can relate to your dilemma), here’s an idea. I was recently talking to my sister in law who is also an avid reader, and she told me that she will often Google a book title and “character list” if she is having a hard time keeping track of characters in a book. She prints it off and keeps it as a bookmark while reading. I had one of those “geez, why didn’t I think of that” moments!
Nancy says
Wow, that rug is gorgeous!!
Judy says
Mavis…Have you heard of Grey Duck Art? You send them a photo of your pet and they make it into a paint by number!
I think Lucy needs her portrait painted.
Tracy says
What a cute idea, thank you for the gift idea for my hubby!

Ok-you have outdone yourself with the lobsters stenciled on the buoys…you never cease to amaze me.
We have a historic fountain in our town park that is located within a traffic circle. 2-3 times a year-somebody runs through it. There are lights, stations, poles, barriers -all of the safety measures…but it is always a person under the influence. It took a year to repair with the historic tile recreated etc…we just had the unveiling…and then last night….yep. It happened again. A young lady plowed through at full speed at 12:45 am…there goes the historic tile that took a year to recreate.
