It’s that time of year again, the time to set goals and to start the year off on a positive note. Somehow when you write your goals down, and share them with friends {or just put them on your fridge so you can see them everyday} goals are so much easier to accomplish.
If I can make a list of all the things I want to accomplish in 2022, so can you. No excuses! Just do it.
Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
The biggest goal by far this year will be to remodel the kitchen.
I know exactly what I want to do: white lower cabinets {but probably not upper cabinets}, white walls, black soapstone or a dark quartz countertop with a matching sink, a built in microwave and a pantry.
Sounds pretty straightforward, don’t you think?
Summer, would be the perfect time to get this project underway if you ask me, the weather would be nice and we could cook outside. So hopefully our timeline will match up the builders.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove
Oh, and an AGA cooktop stove in duck egg blue. 🙂 Yep, if this is the house…. then I might as well go all out and pick something I know I’ll still want 20 years from now.
AGA’s are quirky, unique and PERFECT for baking and slow cooking and I’ve always wanted one. Plus, I think one would look pretty darn cool in my coastal Maine kitchen.
The only catch is, the AGA is a wee bit pricey. As in $22,000! {OH MY WORD!}
Some people drive fancy cars, some people still have kids at home and are saving for their college education and some people want to travel. All I want to do is stay home, bake cookies, drink tea and hook rugs all day long.
But the price tag. It’s a doozy. And so in order to pay for the AGA, my goal is to earn it by selling a boatload of rugs this year. Plus it will keep me focused on creating new patterns and kits, which is another goal of mine.
Remember when you were a kid and you had to save up for a bike, or a new pair of skates, and the anticipation of each week inching closer to your goal? Well that’s sort of how I feel about this stove.
I have no idea how many rugs I’ll need to hook/sell to earn the AGA… but I know it will keep me busy doing something I love… and that’s rug hooking.
Fill the Canning Cupboard {This is where the canning cupboard will go}
We ordered a new canning cupboard last fall, and with a little luck, it should be here sometime in March. My goal is to not only fill the canning cupboard with loads of homegrown goodness, but it try a few new canning recipes this year as well.
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
Anyone want to take a guess what it is?
The “product” will be absolutely FREE to me, but I think it will be kind of fun to see if I can turn it into enough money to pay our entire grocery bill for the year. {More on this later}
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
I could be doing WAY better at this than I am now. But just to clarify, any fruit in pie form does count.
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room!
Seriously, the craft situation is out of control at our house and I need to do a better job at keeping the crafts… IN THE CRAFT ROOM.
So each week I plan to post a picture of our dining room to help rid me of this bad habit.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup
How hard can it be, right?
Make a Quilt Top
2 years ago I bought enough fabric to make a quilt {or two} and haven’t done anything with it since. This will probably be the hardest goal for me to accomplish this year because I am not into sewing. Quilting takes precision and patience and is insanely time consuming and honestly, it’s not my favorite thing.
I plan to make the quilt top and then ship it off to my friend Zoë so she can quilt it for me with her big fancy machine.
Be More Intentional With My Time
On Monday mornings I will create a weekly to do list of the tasks that need to get done that week and together, the HH and I GET THEM DONE. {Note to self: Tell the HH about this.}
1 Craft / Blog Free Day
At my husbands request….
Be a normal wife. At least one day a week. Put down the dye pots, and the rug hook and turn off my computer.
I suppose every second of the day doesn’t have to be spent being productive, right? {Did I seriously just say that?}
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
- Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyard
- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.
- Fill the field {with soil}
- Remodel 1 bathroom
- Build window boxes for the front of the house
- Build an arbor for the wisteria
- Order 4 cords of firewood by the end of May and stack them in an artful way {like they did in the book Norwegian Wood}.
My House Projects For This Year {so far}
- Finish painting the outside of the house
- Finish painting the inside of the house
- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here HA HA HA
- New window treatment for the kitchen window
Try 24 New Recipes
Listen to 12 Audiobooks
Get a Fishing License and Catch a Fish
This is actually something we BOTH want to do. I don’t think the HH has ever been fishing… so it should be interesting.
My List of Garden Projects For This Year I want to Accomplish
- Map out this year’s garden by April 1st
- Plant apple or pear trees
- Plant raspberry and blueberry bushes
- Plant asparagus and rhubarb
- Grow 500 pounds of food
- Expand the lasagna garden
- Finish clearing the front of the property
- Get some garden pots for the front an back patio/porches
Create 12 New Rug Hooking Patterns and/or Kits
Have All My 2022 Ornaments Finished by April 1st.
Actually take the time to walk somewhere with the HH {other than just down the street}.
Visit 12 Towns in Maine That I Haven’t Been to Before
So that’s it. Those are my goals for 2022.
Now let’s year about YOUR GOALS! What do you plan on accomplishing in 2022? We want to know.
~Mavis
Kim says
Woohoo! I’m terribly excited about your list!
A hooked rug would look nice on your walls.
Is the craft room a bedroom? Have you shown that?
Do you get to use past earnings to go in on your stove or as you starting with 2022 earnings?
Can’t wait to follow along.
Thank you for entertaining us.
Blessings on this new year!
Mavis Butterfield says
Craft room is a bedroom with no bedroom furniture, just wool.
I am only counting new rugs towards the goal. I marked all the new rugs with *** for my Etsy listings so it would be eaiser to keep track.
Gigi says
Perhaps the craft room isn’t as cozy as the dining room and that’s why things end up on the table. Or maybe you have a better view working form the table? I think the key will be to figure out why the dining room is preferred over the craft room and how to remedy it.
Melonie says
I love (truly!) that HH’s list includes four cords of wood stacked artfully. That’s the kind of thing I would list for my husband.
I’d get The Look from mine but….. I’d still try.
This is a great list and gives me ideas for my own. My goals are broken into rather generic chunks as we are moving in a few months, so summer is kind of a “do the road trip, find a house” type thing. I think I shall add “buy hooked rug for new home to support Mavis’ AGA fundraiser” to that, though your kitchen remodel may take place before I have a kitchen. LOL
Happy New Year and best wishes for an amazing 2022!
Jennifer says
The free to you product to pay for your grocery bills is…sea salt.
If not, it’d be kinda cool to see if you could do this!
Teri says
I’m thinking Mavis is going to set up a roadside stand with her fruit and veggies for sale. Like the one in a couple of homes back…
Julia Park Tracey says
I’m guessing seaweed.
Jenn says
I’m guessing what she listed as one of her goals…maple syrup!
Mel says
I normally come up with several goals, but I think I only have one for 2022:
1) Turn our guest room into a nursery.
Yeah, I think that’s it! 🙂
Kirsten says
My favorite goal of all time!
Mavis Butterfield says
Mel!!! I am so excited for you!! 🙂
Holley says
Oh my goodness!!!! Congratulations!!!!
Janet says
Oh so exciting, congratulations!!
Cheryl says
Congratulations, the only goal you need.
J in OH-IO says
Mel,
Congratulations! So happy for you! 🙂

GREAT GOAL – and there will be lots to do along with it.
CONGRATS to you and yours!!
DebbieB says
Mel, how wonderful!
Dianne says
Congratulations, Mel! You surely will be busy! That list will definitely get longer as the days go by. Best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnacy!
Margaret G Hudgins says
Mel, does that mean,,,?
Nancy Sadewater says
Congratulations Mel!
Heather says
Congratulations! Our daughter is expecting #2 in July. Exactly two years after our grandson,.
Richelle says
Congratulations!
Mel says
Thanks so much, everyone! My husband and I are so excited! I’ve been waiting for weeks to share the news with everyone here, and I really appreciate all the congrats and good wishes.
I’m due late July, so the nursery will need to be figured out by then. We’ve already hit some snags moving forward on that space. We were going to replace floors first and then paint, furnish, and decorate, but the local flooring company seems to be having some challenges with Covid and supply chain stuff. In any case, when I can finally move forward on that, I’ll try to share some updates. I’m toying with also redecorating the guest bath as a fun kid bathroom as well.
Laura L. says
Wow, such wonderful news for you and your husband, Mel. I’m so happy for you and I wish you all the love and joy that a new baby brings! ♥
LindaT says
Does that mean congratulations are in order? If so, congratulations!!!!
Cindy Miller says
Wow!! I hope you post pics of the quilt top as you go along! That will be so exciting. I plan on digging out my machine this weekend. (Notice I said dig out) lol.
No fishing ever? Of any kind? Nothing beats catching a bass, filleting, cooking and eating it! Happy trails!
Gretta says
Happy New Year Mavis and Family,
When I was a kid we didn’t need a license to fish in the sea in Maine. Don’t know about today’s laws. Have fun.
LDA says
Your yearly goal setting has inspired me to do the same myself this year. I still have to sit down and figure them out, but count me in!
Lissa says
Mind blown….
Jeanine says
WOW! That is quite a list! For me it would be too overwhelming…but, if anyone can do it, that would be you.
Do you have lots of natural light in the Craft bedroom? I only ask because your dining room has lots of light and a big work table.
Julia Park Tracey says
I agree— why can’t the dining room be the craft room?
Louise says
Yay for you with an Aga! I saw the image at top of your post, and hoped……(feared maybe it’s a pop-up?). July 2022 will be the 27th anniversary of my 4-oven Aga. On propane, we do have a pricey monthly bill—but the total value of that cooker cannot be expressed (and yes, we only drive cheap second hand cars). My original chief buying reasons were better breads and piecrusts. Yup. For sure. The two married daughters insisted on their wedding cakes being baked in it. Casual shirts and our table napkins are ‘ironed’ on the lids, and clothes are dried above, on, in front of the Aga when too cold/wet outdoors. Husband uses it to dry his mortaring/plastering tools and encourage the curing of epoxy repairs. I have even managed to make it work for brewing and water bath canning but these require a heat stick (husband made) as –caveat—the Aga cannot put out enough high heat for long enough. (I think that is the only downside I have experienced). My husband had my pressure canner’s bottom ground flat to work on the Aga, but I haven’t had occasion to do pressure canning since then so haven’t tested it. And this cooker means that one room of our large and drafty old house is warm and cozy. Heats our bedroom just above as well.
Teri says
You are going to be busy for sure! Love that you will take one day off/week. Going walking with the HH and fishing — how fun! Happy New Year Mavis!
Diana says
Wow! I am impressed with your list. It’s made me rethink my own list and see what I can add or talk myself into doing, lol.
Thank you for the motivation…
Holley says
This year’s list seems more ambitious than most!!! I love the AGAs but they are a lot of work and upkeep! Good luck with that one!
My guess for what you are going to make money with to pay for your groceries is SEAWEED. Can’t wait to find out the real answer!
Virginia says
My guess about what you’ll sell for your groceries would be something that can be found on the beach. Sea glass, driftwood, or rocks maybe?
Pam T says
I’m guessing “Trash to Treasure” from items found on the beach…welcome mats from line, etc. Whatever it is I know it will be amazing! Can’t wait for the reveal.
Anna Himes says
my biggest goals surround fixing up the house as it seems we shall be here for a bit longer than once thought. Using your list an inspiration, I have built one of my own.
Hawaii Planner says
Love all of your goals! I’m very much a goal setter as well. I have a long list posted on my blog, but the ones I’m most excited about (need to happen): stretch every day, continue with my strong workout progress from 2021, figure out what I want to do/who I want to be after my current career, start a DAF (donor advised fund), come up with a bucket travel list.
https://thehawaiiplan.blogspot.com/2021/12/2022-goals.html
suzanne says
Love the new console. The AGA will help keep your kitchen toasty in the colder months so think of it as a wise investment.
Elle says
Great goals! I look forward to following your journey and hard work!!!! through 2022.
Regarding comments on your groceries: My perception is that you intend to grow and preserve enough produce that the value equals the $$ spent purchasing the groceries you cannot grow/produce. Heck, heirloom tomatoes at $4/pound ? 166 ‘maters (mine are usually 1.5 pounds) equals $1000. It would only take 8 plants to generate that! Heck, you can totally raise $5500 worth of organically grown produce in your gardens this year 🙂
I’m not much for goal setting since retiring after 4 decades of loooooong days in the OR. This winter I will be studying biointensive gardening methods and intend to produce far more preserved veg than ever before. (sure hope canning lids are available this year as I’ve found none since June 2020 and I had to freeze more than intended this past fall).
Cheers to a wonderful 2022.
Kirsten says
My guess is Mavis will be selling the gourd stems that she posted about awhile back ….? Ya know, the ones people pay big money for ?
Not logical in my book, but if there is a market …. why not?!!
Leslie says
If you look around from time to time, used AGAs do come up. My sister couldn’t give hers away and eventually paid someone to haul it to the recycler.
Brianna says
Yes! My mom had one for years and then it started having some problems. She couldn’t find anyone to service it or the parts and spent a year cooking in her kitchen with just a small portable electric burner. She was waiting to get it fixed and for the part. Eventually she decided it was too much and took it to recycling. Then she figured out the ‘built in’ space she had for her AGA was custom and she couldn’t just buy a basic stove to fit the space or she would have to wait forever to get one to fit. She ended up gutting her entire kitchen…countertops, floors, cabinets, etc. and putting in a KitchenAid. It is comical now, but she went almost 18 months without a functioning stove.
Julie says
Having a goal that you are already not looking forward to (sewing the quilt top) sounds daunting. You recently posted tips on creating and keeping resolutions. Would love to hear about any struggles and tricks along the way to accomplishing this goal in your weekly goal recaps! Not just where you are at on the road to this goal, but how you are getting there. What you do and accomplish is just as inspirational as how you accomplish it! (And by “you”, I mean Mavis. :))
Tammy says
My biggest goal for this year is to read 100 books! I read 60 last year, so I think I can get 100 in.
My guess on what you’re going to sell is seaweed! It’s the only thing free that I could think of.
Anna Himes says
Love this goal, Tammy
Patti Vanderbloemen says
Bravo to you! I wish you the best of luck on achieving all your goals…that oven is Schweet!!!
Just an FYI…if you did not already know….you may want to contact a builder sooner rather than later. There have been serious delays in all things construction-related, including cabinets. Sigh.
Delores says
This year is the year. Over the past 4 users, 3 kids left home, 1 got married and has had 3 kids now, and we moved twice. So I set goals, but never did them. I should have set goals like: launch 3 children into the world, stay sane, make 3 baptism gowns. But this year… in one place, only 1 going off to college, and I’m turning 50. I know I should limit goals, but I want this to be a banner year. So, I am making a long list and am just going for it. I may now hit them all, but I bet I will do more than if I just didn’t list any!
Julia Park Tracey says
That’s impressive. Good luck!
Diane says
Hi Mavis,
Since I consider you Maine’s finest ambassador, you’ve inspired my big goal this year… to explore more of my state, Washington.
I’ll be making more goals,
but this one has caught my imagination and excitement.
I found a good resource.
http://www.onlyinyourstate.com
Anyone can put in your own state and get cool, timely and sometimes lesser known places to go. Right now, I’m sort of scanning for my first round of explorations.
Also, like that I can peruse other states in case I go on a larger road trip.
Hope you all find it useful as I have. I also hope you all have a peaceful, healthy New Year!
Amanda S says
Oh I love this! Thanks for the tip!
Marilla R Payne says
Another really cool site to find quirky, fun, and extraordinary places to visit is atlasobscura.com
I have their coffee table book and love it
tia in boise says
Congrats, Mel!
Kirsten beat me to it–my first (and only) thought was pumpkin/squash stems—but, really, I don’t think you could make that much off them, so it’s not a realistic guess–but it’s all I’ve got. I don’t think Mavis would do roadside sales of produce because she said it wouldn’t cost her anything, and she’s pretty good about being accountable for the cost of seeds and starters and such…
Yea! A surprise goal–it’s been a while!
I told myself I’d have fewer goals this year….looks like I have one fewer goal! Ha!
Here they are:
*Work–Try to get everything done between the hours of 7-4
*House–Spend 15 minutes tidying daily; Create and implement Cleaning Plan–this one did not get accomplished last year
*Health–run/walk 1,000 miles (That’s 3 miles a day, just about); Floss nightly; Lose 15 pounds (10 of which were put on since school started this year); Eat More Veggies and Drink more H2O; Get to bed by 10 and up at 6; Do stretches, calisthenics and core work for 15 minutes in the mornings
*Happiness–Participate in the Great Polar Bear Challenge (on New Year’s Day–it’s a dip in our local lake to benefit Make a Wish–Every year I say I wish I had planned on doing it–so a goal will keep it in my sites all year long–sadly, this year’s was cancelled due to ice and had to be done virtually–I could do that, too; “Keep the Fun” (find ways to enjoy my day–dance, keep in touch with friends, find new ways to “date” with DH…); Delete It (emails, photos, physical junk); Credit Debt–last year I reduced by 33.3%–this year will be by half, which is a 2nd 33.3%; 2 Reading Challenges–50 books for local library and 50 for my school district–hoping there is a lot of overlap! I read at least 57 this past year–I think I could do 60, but more than that is pushing it (if I want to stay caught up on work and still be social).
I had wanted to include some challenges that I would be able to check off early, but that didn’t really happen…maybe next year…
Mel says
Thanks, Tia!
Lindsey says
I had an Aga in one of my houses. You will not be disappointed. We had to reinforce the floor to put one in…and we had sheep at that time and the ones who needed extra care were brought into the house and put in the warming part of the stove. Aga Sagas are British romancey type novels, named after the Aga stoves.
Sue D says
AGAs have really gone up in price since I looked at getting one when we reoriented and re-did our kitchen. Alas, it was not anywhere near our budget. Depending on what one you get, it will keep the kitchen warm in winter as a bonus.
Amanda N Tirado says
Mavis, I have been struggling with goal making (and keeping). Over the years I have attempted many goal setting sessions with my family, read many goal setting books, tried multiple formulas for setting goals and none stick. I believe I was setting goals to appease what I, and others, thought I should be doing. Now that I own my own house, I am going to focus on what I want to accomplish. Accountability is a GOOD thing and you greatly inspire me!
LaToya says
My first goal is to get back to blogging.
And I did – and posted my goal list today too.
Several of my goals involve giving – like purchasing toys for Toys for Tots – and saving x amount of dollars per month to shop for the food pantry.
Drink more water … (and like you) eat more fresh fruits and vegetables – did these instead of setting a weight loss goal; I’m figuring if I make some behavior changes, the weight loss should happen organically. LOL – fruit in pies and baked goods count; I like it!
Purge 5 items per week – we have so much stuff …. soooo muchhhh stuffffff. Already went through one dresser and got rid of 20+ things.
I too did a things I’d like to do/buy for our home – carpet, living room furniture, dining room set, wallpaper.
I’m excited to start planning and ✓✓✓ things off the list or making notes, etc. I think I’m going to re-type them onto a Word Doc and print it out and have it handy so I can make notes throughout the week and keep myself on track. Actually, I have 101 cute little notepads and notebooks, maybe I’ll do that instead.
We’ll see how it goes … let’s get it!
Nancy Willhite says
Mavis, I do make quilts and I have one piece of advice. Since you cut your wood in strips why don’t you make a log cabin design quilt. It is fairly easy to piece together and since you already know how to cut fabric in strips it would work good for you.
Just my suggestion for one of your goals.
I am very inspired by you and your activities and look forward to seeing pictures of your new stove–you’ll get it soon, I am sure.
Nancy (In Oregon)
Jules says
I’m still coming up with my list. I plan to go over family goals tonight at supper with the kids too. But one thing I know I want to do is clean out at least one drawer or cupboard or closet each week. I figured this wouldn’t put to much pressure on me but I should be able to get through the whole house by the end of the year
Tarah says
I have been learning how to quilt over the last couple of years and have a couple tips I’d like to pass along. First, start small with an easy to finish project. Maybe something quick like a mug rug or a potholder and then go on from there. My biggest mistake was making a king-size quilt as one of my first projects- what was I thinking?! Also, precision isn’t as important as you might think, especially if you embrace “wonkiness.” Last, I recommend Karen Brown’s tutorials on YouTube, because she explains everything so clearly and helpfully. I have learned so much from her. Hope this helps!
Marilla Payne says
You might enjoy “paper piecing” a quilt…I have this great book called 40 Bright & Bold Paper-Pieced Blocks: 12-Inch Designs From Carol Doak.
With paper piecing, you pin your fabrics onto an actual paper pattern, follow the lines to sew through (including the paper), and easily pull the paper off afterwards because it’s been perforated. It’s fun, easy to keep your lines straight, and can be a great way to use up little pieces of fabric from your stash.
My favorite was the starry night sky crib quilt I made for my first niece…which is quite tatty by now, she’s 12! Lol
Lori King says
I love your energy in making lists and achieving them! I have now followed you for a full year and just wish I had half your motivation. However you are very inspiring! I cant wait to read about the towns you will be visiting- you make Maine so interesting! I think you are going to sell seeds to fund it. Thats my guess. Now to make my own list.
Margery says
I have enjoyed reading all these goal, here are mine for the year. I normally make mine in August when the school year starts but my brain was recovering from a major house remodel and thinking about anything was not happening.
Number 1- Work/ life balance
Number 2- Menu planning,
Number 3- Blogging- I had been thinking about trying vlogging but have realized I am more a blogger at heart. So as goal number three I am aiming to post 3 times a week.
Number 4- To Do List I am aiming to get at least 1/2 of my list completed each week to start and work from there, with a goal that at the end of the year I will be either completing my list each week or will be better at making a more realistic list.
Number 5- Game time I really want to play a board game once a week. I do have a selection on two person games and also larger group games. I am going to list this on my to do list each week and let the others who live here know. I am thinking Friday nights.
Number 6- Personal Habits: I will be using a Habit tracker to keep track of the following.
Get up and Move
Drink More Water
No getting Fast Food during the week work
Number 7- Have a clean kitchen before bed each night, I know this sounds easy but on some days I just don’t get it done.
Number 8- Garden – this last year I didn’t have a garden at all, the house remodel took up all my brain power and energy. I haven’t fleshed out this goal but I will have a garden this summer.
tia in boise says
Margery, I LOVE your board game goal!
I also like your fast food goal. I don’t eat fast food very often, but I find if my goals are specific to limitations, it helps me! One of my “non-published but keeping it in my head” goals is to limit dessert to 1x/week and sodas to 2x/month.
Jennifer says
You are right quilting is very tedious! I have made a few and I love them, but doubt I will do it again. Maybe a baby quilt.
Some of my goals are big and some are small but here they are.
1. Lose 5 lbs
2. Limit my Starbucks mochas to just 2 per week (saving money and hopefully contributing to weight loss.)
3. Save $8000 towards 2 of my kids college expenses next year. The third one in college next year we already have the money saved for.
4. Save $3000 towards our family reunion vacation this summer.
5. Save $5000 towards my replacement car.
6. Improve my relationship with my children. I plan to do this by communicating more, listening more, and sharing more experiences.
Jenn says
I’m guessing the mystery “product” has something to do with that rock tumbler gift. Maybe polished rocks or jewelry??
Great goal list…very inspiring! Happy 2022!
Amelia W says
If you didn’t get a hard cover for your Blackstone griddle, you might want to. My husband loves his.
Julia Park Tracey says
Mavis and friends, I have been following Mavis’s to-do list for three years now and I’m so impressed by all of her amazing goals. I have a number of work-specific goals that are too clerical to mention.
I’ve decided to plant only those vegetables I really want to eat. So no turnips or kale. Tomatoes, squash, beans, and a ton of sunflowers, yes, but no eggplant, no lettuce or peas – too many bugs!
I’m going to take four classes and take four trips. I have some painting projects and we need to put in an irrigation system in our front yard and vegetable garden. But I did most of the big garden projects last year so that makes this year easier.
But first things first, I’m having some lady surgery this month and will take a little time recovering. Sometime later this year I’m going to get a tattoo to commemorate it.
All of that and become a famous author as well… I’m dreaming big!
Tia Newell says
oh, good call, Jenn! she could use found rocks.
(but I remain stumped by the not costing any money—she would need to purchase the jewelry bits…)
Annette says
I would buy a Wolf stove before I would buy AGA. My son just got a Wolf with a double oven, six burners and a griddle. That thing is solid and made in USA. A Cadillac of a stove!
Heather says
Wow. I love your list. I need to still come up with mine.
I would love to see a photo of your canning cabinet when you get it.
The end of our dining room table sometimes looks like that. For me it is because I don’t have a place to cut out large things in my sewing room and since the lighting is so much better in the kitchen than in there.
I’m guessing you are going to sell something ocean related – seaweed, etc.
Re your quilt top: Depending upon if you already have a pattern in mind there are some really, really easy quilt tops. Here is one link when I did a fast search.
Richelle says
My first thought on the secret project: Seaweed!
Meg C says
Mavis, I’ve been following you for a long time and love your weekly goal-related updates.
I have a few goals this year:
– lose 10lbs by Memorial Day (1st weigh-in today, will weigh myself every Monday morning)
– get 10,000 steps a day with at least 3,000 steps being aerobic movement (workout, walking/jogging, etc)
– get a new job (part-time) that does not require weekends
– keep my house “company ready”
Maybe posting my goals for the world to see will help me accomplish them!
Lissa in Idaho says
Decade+ follower here. Thank you for taking the time to inspire and entertain us all! My guess is found items on the beach: rocks, drift wood. No clue how one would monetize seaweed…. Happy New Year Mavis (and friends and family!).
Marcia says
$22k yowza!
Fruit in pie counts.
So does zucchini bread and carrot cake.
Louise says
Forgot very important! Aga for germination! At seed-starting time, I take the plates out of cabinet above (and to side of) Aga, lay in plastic trash bags (to protect shelves), and put my seed-starting boxes (otherwise known as strawberry boxes) in there. Temp of soil is about 70 F, so tomatoes, peppers, snapdragons et al. are happy and germinate pretty quickly.
Joanna says
Happy New Year Mavis and friends !!! My guess is maple syrup.
My 2022 goal although it might be tough one……… Okay, nobody laugh…… Find a husband! Lol!
Congrats Mel!
Trina says
I’ve also thought about tapping my maple tree! It’s not a sugar maple but I read that it can still be done
Also, can we see what canning cupboard you ordered??? I’m so curious!
Have a good week 🙂 🙂
