Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
This is our current setup. Pretty awesome don’t you think?
The {panel ready} dishwasher the HH ordered is still on backorder and we’re still waiting for the stove and the light fixture for over the sink. The next step is to install a new kitchen window.
After that we’ll have the electrician come out and move a few outlets and can lights so they’ll match up with the new cupboards that will be going in later this summer.
Once the electrician does his bit, then we’ll be able to patch the walls, paint and get ready for cabinets. Yee-Haw.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove {$12,237.80 of $22,000 earned so far}
I sold 1 new piece last week and will be adding 12-14 more pieces to my Etsy shop on May 14th. 🙂
Fill the Canning Cupboard
Although the canning cupboard is in place, now we just need to add a boatload of home canned goodness to the cupboard.
So far this year I have canned:
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I think I’ll just have to wait until things calm down before I list my beach finds.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
We were over near Whitefield yesterday so we stopped by the Amish stand and bought doughnuts and hand pies for breakfast. YUM-O!
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
Finally! The dining room has been put back together. Now comes the tricky part, keeping the crafts out of that space. This week I plan on organizing my craft space as well as the basement so the spaces have a better flow to them.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
I made zero progress on my quilt top this past week. But I have until the end of the year to complete this goal so I’m not too worried about it.
Be More Intentional With My Time
The puggle princess and I took a nice long nap yesterday… and it was lovely.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day So far I’m 15 for 18 this year.
Keep My Husband Busy
The HH worked mostly in the backyard this week trimming up and thinning out trees. I suspect he’ll pull out the wood chipper next to get rid of all the branches that are still on the ground.
After that, he next projects include giving the dinghy engine and riding lawn mower a tune up, mowing and getting the dock and dinghy in the water. Then… we’ll order our 4 cords of firewood. 🙂 And after that, he can fill in the field with topsoil for me so I can get my garden planted by the end of the month.
The honey do list. It never ends. 🙂
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyardDONE- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.
- Fill the field {with soil}
- Remodel 1 bathroom
Replace fireplace tile- Build window boxes for the front of the house
- Build an arbor for the wisteria
- Order 4 cords of firewood by the end of May and stack them in an artful way {like they did in the book Norwegian Wood}.
Sand the floors in the entire houseDONE- Install new garage door openers {new addition}
- Build a wood shed {new addition}
My House Projects For This Year {so far}
I finished painting the floors in the guest room {the floor was blue when we moved in} and although it took 4 coats of white paint, it was worth it. It’s a much lighter space than it was before, and that’s a good thing.
Eventually we plan on replacing the half pine, half plywood floors in there with all pine flooring {we’ll do it at the same time we re-do my craft space}. But for now, I’m happy with the way it turned out.
All that’s left to do now is wait for the set of light and breezy curtains and rod I ordered to arrive so the HH can hang it up and to eventually find a pine desk to put in there. And maybe find a proper nightstand too {because right now we’re using one of our old kitchen cabinets!}. 😉
- Finish painting the outside of the house
- Finish painting the inside of the house {working on it}
- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here HA HA HA
- New window treatment for the kitchen window

My List of Garden Projects For This Year I want to Accomplish
I was supposed to get all my pepper and tomatoes transplanted to larger containers yesterday but we ended up going on an adventure so I’ll get it done today. Once I’m done with that, I’ll get my herbs and a few other seeds started indoors before putting everything out in the garden at the end of the month.
Map out this year’s garden by April 1st– done- Plant apple or pear trees – We bought pear and plum – just need to plant them
- Plant raspberry and blueberry bushes – raspberry canes arrived
Plant asparagus and rhubarb–- Grow 500 pounds of food
- Expand the lasagna garden
- Finish clearing the front of the property
- Get some garden pots for the front an back patio/porches

Have All My 2022 Ornaments Finished by April 1st. Done!
I’m done with garden markers and ornaments for the year. Yipee! Next, I’ll be working on package toppers. Once I get those done, I’ll clean out the space I was using for pottery and reorganize the basement to better suit the space for all my rug hooking kits and patterns.
I’m thinking by late fall all the projects {craft space and kitchen} will be completed and this winter will be a super low stress one.
52 Walks {We’ve gone on 10 of 52 so far}
There was a lot of walking this week. Mainly pushing the wheelbarrow from one end of the property to the other. 🙂
Visit 12 Towns in Maine That I Haven’t Been to Before
We visited a new town yesterday! I’ll tell you all about it soon. 🙂
So far we’ve visited:
How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?
~Mavis
Mrs. C. says
We are remodeling our kitchen. Due to “issues” with a big (blue) box store, appliances manufacturers, cabinet makers, and contractors, we are in MONTH TEN of the remodel, and week 3 of NO RUNNING WATER IN THE KITCHEN. I wash dishes outside with the hose. Mavis, if you think you’re going bonkers, I assure you that you are not alone.
Mavis Butterfield says
No running water in the kitchen is a big deal. 🙁 On the plus side, at least it’s not snowing or bitterly cold outside.
Peg says
Mavis, what brand of dishwasher are you getting? I was told to start shopping for a new one. Our current one still works so I’m not in a hurry.
Carrie says
We just purchased a new bosch. The ones I wanted were out of stock until August….so my husband just picked one that was available. My requirements were stainless inside and out and a 3rd row for Silverware.
We aren’t sure how long the current one will last. It’s leaking and making loud motor noise. I was hoping to make it to memorial day sales, but we couldn’t wait. Oh, and the one I had picked went up in price $200 between the day I decided and 36 hours later when he went to order it.
Mavis Butterfield says
Bosch. The HH did all the research {and we’ve had one before}.
Teri says
The white floor in your guest room looks great! Much brighter!
Margo says
Love the white floor, had to look twice after reading that the end table was an old cabinet. It fits quite well and gives me an idea for our guest room. Maybe I’ll paint it…. Finally finished the drip irrigation to my raised beds on the side of my house. Going to try to hook up the containers and several other areas around the property. Hubby did the larger hoses and connectors and I’m placing the emitters and drip hose. Not as young as I used to be, takes me a lot longer to complete the job and it seems even longer than that to get up from a kneeling position!
Gail C. says
I’m not as young as I used to be, either. Carrying in a box containing six
one-gallon bottles of water yesterday I commented that 48 pounds are
heavier than they used to be.
LaToya says
♡ Happy Mother’s Day, Miss Mavis! ♡
I gotta say, I completely underestimated you – or the demand for and price of wool – because I thought there was no way you could hit the oven goal.
Dang, lady – that’s awesome!
I would also go nuts if my kitchen was torn up and had to eat/cook the way you have been – – kudos to all for rolling with it and making the best of things. You always inspire me with your perseverance.
Diane says
Is the picture of the paint can the one you used?
Is the code on the can the actual color you used or just the base number. Seems like painting projects are quickly on the horizon and I feel totally overwhelmed at picking out colors! Had a couple of bad choices in the past and now picking paint colors gives me nightmares.
(NOT kidding: picked out a color that was to be a warm tan and it ended up looking like Campbell’s tomato soup!) Yikes! Never forget!! Hasn’t shifted to being funny yet!!!
Mavis Butterfield says
That is the paint I used. It was tinited my favorite white, Chantilly Lace.
