Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
Even though we have a ways to go before our kitchen is done {I’m thinking late summer/early fall} the light fixture we ordered is on its way and I got a test out an AGA oven {more on that later}.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove {$12,777.50 of $22,000 earned so far}
I listed 13 new pieces last night in my Etsy shop and have already sold a few of the pieces. 🙂 I haven’t figured out my theme for next month’s listings… maybe chickens, or a garden theme? There are so many rugs I want to hook!
Fill the Canning Cupboard
The canning cupboard is in place and now we just need to fill it! Berry season can’t come soon enough.
So far this year I have canned:
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I think I’ll just have to wait until things calm down before I list my beach finds.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Maybe I should start harvesting dandelion greens or start bartering them for some grapes or oranges. I noticed the local farmstand was selling them for $5.99 a pound and Market Basket has them “on sale” for $1.99 a pound this week in their flyer.
Seriously! Who is buying dandelions?
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
This marks 2 weeks that the crafts have stayed out of the craft room.
Now I just need to get the last of my wool bolts and plant starts out of the family room and that room will be nice and tidy too.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
I made zero progress on my quilt top this past week. But I have until the end of the year to complete this goal so I’m not too worried about it.
Be More Intentional With My Time
The HH and I had a date day {the Farmer’s Market}, I got all my rugs finished in time for my Etsy update, I visited with a neighbor {for nearly 3 hours!} and we spent several days outside working in the back. It was a good week!
1 Craft / Blog Free Day {I’ve had 16 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
Keep My Husband Busy
We finally finished cleaning up all the brush and tree limbs in the back yesterday and I think the HH is pretty happy about that. The wood chipper is LOUD and messy and the black flies were starting to make their appearance {usually they’re around for about 6 weeks} so he was happy to be done with that task.
Now comes the fun part, getting the dinghy in the water.
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyardDONE- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.
- Fill the field {with soil}
- Remodel 1 bathroom
Replace fireplace tile- Build window boxes for the front of the house
- Build an arbor for the wisteria
- Order 4 cords of firewood by the end of May and stack them in an artful way {like they did in the book Norwegian Wood}.
Sand the floors in the entire houseDONE- Install new garage door openers {new addition}
- Build a wood shed {new addition}
My House Projects For This Year {so far}
The curtains and rod I ordered for the guest room finally arrived and so the HH hung those up for me so that job is done. Next up for me is painting the trim in the hallway, 1 door and our closet area.
- Finish painting the outside of the house
- Finish painting the inside of the house {working on it}
- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here HA HA HA
- New window treatment for the kitchen window

Listen to 12 Audiobooks
I finished listening to Taste by Stanley Tucci and gave it an 8 out of 10 stars. The back and forth conversations drove me nuts but other than that it was pretty good.
The past few days I’ve been listening to The Boys by Ron and Clint Howard and it’s been pretty hilarious at times.

- Dolly Parton, Songteller by Dolly Parton 10/10
- Salt to the Sea by Ruth Sepetys 10/10
- No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality by Michael J. Fox 10/10

How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?

Dandelion wine is supposed to be Devine. However it takes up to 2 years to be its best. I would make it myself but the dogs cohabitate with them to much for my comfort.
My daughter made your bread recipe and loved it.

I took last week off from working on the nursery, but we worked on hanging curtains today. We got one set up, but in a continuing theme of everything in that room taking two tries, the other curtain rod arrived without any mounting brackets, so I just contacted the company to see if they can send replacements.
Kim says
Parenting should feel like a picnic compared to the trials and tribulations of putting this nursery together.
Bless your heart.
Mel says
I’m sure parenting will be challenging enough, but all the setbacks with the prep are starting to feel a little ridiculous. Then again, I am also considering switching doctors, so maybe all aspects of parenting are just going to require multiple takes!
Laura says
If you feel you need to switch, do it! I went to three different Ob/gyn before I landed on the one I felt I connected with enough to deliver my baby. It was so worth the effort. Hope you find a good person to share this milestone with!
Mel says
Thanks, Laura! That makes me feel better. At this point, I think I’d settle for a doctor who actually calls in prescriptions instead of just saying they will.
Julie says
Dandelion greens are a seasonal favorite in my area. Check out any recipe for PA Dutch dandelion with hot bacon dressing.
Brianna says
The HH’s arm looks broken in the pic with him hanging the curtain rods, I hope that is just an optical illusion.
Sue says
Look up the recipes for dandelion jelly, you have so much. Taste like honey.
I’m waiting for the beach finds.
Deborah says
We have wild blackberry vines taking over our garden area. I have made jam from the fruit. I did strain the berries as I don’t like the seeds. Now we have to cut most of them down. And trees, mostly sweet gum trees. I will be making grape jam later in the season. I have a grape vine on my fence. We had to cut the plum trees down due to blight. The only way to get rid of it is to cut the trees and bury them. Don’t burn them.
Wendy says
Our garden is planted! And the wildflowers have been sown. I finished my part-time teaching job until mid-August. I did my grocery shop and cleaned out my car. The family was fed all week and had clean clothes. I’m calling it good.
Gigi says
The Greeks make a dandelion side dish. Boil in salted water until tender. Drain, add oil, lemon, salt. Maybe feta and vinegar if you prefer and serve. Around here, there are bunches of old Greeks going through the vacant, untreated land picking dandelion. Dandelion greens can get bitter later in the season. I like mustard greens better.
Emily says
I buy dandelion greens for my rabbit in the off season. This time of year I’m harvesting them for her for free.
Bonnie says
Absolutely Love the God bless America rug!! That is awesome.
