Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
The kitchen looks exactly the same as it did last weekend. The Girl came for a visit and stayed an extra day and then I did a bunch of canning and never got around to getting the paint on the walls {it’s been primed though}.
Oops. Oh well. That just means I’ll have to add painting to my to-do list this week.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!!
I hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to pay for my new Duck Egg Blue AGA cooker.
The cabinets are slated to be installed the first week in October and the AGA will be delivered the week after that. Countertops will likely be installed 4-6 weeks AFTER the cabinets are in so that means we will be without any plumbing in the kitchen {sink, dishwasher} until those are done.
But at least I’ll have an oven!! 🙂
Fill the Canning Cupboard
The canning cupboard is almost full! This past week The Girl and I canned Basil and Tomato Garlic Sauce.
So far this year I have canned:
- Costco Like Salsa
- Basil and Garlic Tomato Sauce
- Tomato Ketchup
- Tomato Bruchetta
- Raspberry Blueberry Jam
- Carrot Cake Jam
- Strawberry Lemon Jam
- Blueberry Lime Jam
- Strawberry Jam
- Cinnamon Rhubarb Jam
- Pickled Asparagus
- Ginger Pear Jam
- Spiced Christmas Jam
- Cranberry Sauce
- Split Pea and Ham Soup
- Beef Stew
- Zucchini Relish
- Heirloom Tomato Salsa
Not canned, but in jars:
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I’ve decided to wait until fall to list my beach finds. I know this is cutting my selling season a bit short, but with so many other things going on right now, I just don’t have the time to add another thing to my to-do list.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Brown sugar glazed sweet potatoes. Mmm Mmm Good. 🙂
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
HA HA HA.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
No comment.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day a Week {I’ve had 35 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
With all the canning that’s been going on lately, it’s been super easy to unplug and stay off the internet.
Be More Intentional With My Time
I helped The Girl can 34 jars of salsa, 9 jars of ketchup and 7 jars of tomato sauce. 🙂
Keep My Husband Busy
The HH finished a bunch of projects last week but now I can’t remember what they were. He also helped out in the kitchen by seeding 2 batches of hot peppers for me {so I could dehydrate them}. I told him to wear gloves but he thought that was a dumb idea so he didn’t.
Well… guess who was talking about how his hands were STILL burning after 2 days. Hmmm. Maybe he’ll wear them next time.

That cupboard full of canned items is a BEAUTY!

That light fixture is gorgeous!!! Yay on blowing past your garden goals. Tomatoes for the win!
Nancy Hager says
Many years ago I made that mistake with jalapeño’s. The only thing I found that cut the burn was aloe Vera. I cut a leaf off our plant, split it open and rubbed all over my hands. The burn was immediately gone.

When we were with out kitchen counter tops and a sink for a month during a kitchen remodel my husband came up with a workaround. He attached the old sink and faucet to a board. Laid this across the cabinets and hooked up the water. The sink drained into a 5 gallon bucket that we dumped outside. Galmorous no, but better than washing dishes in the shower.
Karin says
15 years ago, we could not decided on the right countertop in our new kitchen. We made a temporary countertop from some old boards. Placed the sink, taps, stove. Hooked everything up like normal and had it for a couple of months. Worked perfectly.

Oohhhh!!! As soon as you said he helped seed peppers, I was afraid of what would follow. I did that last year. Hot pepper hands are THE WORST! I did not know 🙁
I learned! It took about 5 hours and every suggestion Google could offer. The only thing that seemed to help was just holding them in a bowl of cold milk.
Although I also thought I’d planted jalapenos. I checked the next morning; they were habaneros.
Sharon Sorrels says
We will be glad that our tomatoes have been producing so well this summer. I have heard there will be a shortage of tomatoes and tomato products.
Juie says
I don’t know about after two days, but Dawn dishwashing soap immediately cures Jalepeno mishaps! Wash hands with it in nice warm water, and the burning is gone!! Hope he didn’t rub his eyes!!
