Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
I think we finally found the perfect pantry solution for the awkward wall in the kitchen. I spotted the design on the Shere Kitchens Instagram page and I am in love. No baskets though {too busy} I’d have a pull out drawer there instead.
I really like the color of the wood floors and that it matches the open shelving as well.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove {$5504.30 of $22,000 earned so far}
I sold a few more new pieces and I’m getting closer to 25% of the amount I need for the AGA. I’ve been hooking away at my new batch of finished pieces and I’ll share those on Etsy next Saturday at 6pm.
Fill the Canning Cupboard {This is where the canning cupboard will go}
The cupboard isn’t supposed to arrive until spring, but that’s not going to keep me for working on filling it. Jams I’ve made to fill my canning cupboard so far: Ginger Pear Jam and Spiced Christmas Jam.
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I haven’t actually listed them yet, but I plan on selling rocks, shells, driftwood and a few other found treasures to pay for my groceries this year. I think it will be fun to see not only what sells, but see where the people buying the beach treasures are from.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
I’m down to bananas, 1 apple and a bell pepper in the fridge… which can only mean 1 thing… we need to go grocery shopping again.
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room!
I was able to keep the crafts out of the craft room 5 out of 7 days last week. That’s progress!
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup
No tapping going on this month… but we should probably make plans to go to Hussey’s General Store soon and get our tapping supplies.
Make a Quilt Top
The plan was to get all my quilt pieces cut out by the end of the January and well, it’s taking a little longer than I thought. So my new goal is to have them cut out and ready to sew by the end of February.
Be More Intentional With My Time
For the first time ever, I now have a set “stopping” time each day {M-F 4 pm, Sat 12pm} and it’s lovely. I was starting to make the HH a little crazy with my non-stop crafts 24/7 schedule and knew I needed to figure out a way to cut my “work” hours without cutting my productivity.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day
So far so good.
Keep My Husband Busy
I kept him busy this week running errands, chopping kindling and assembling boxes. No major projects yet though. He did do most of the cooking last week though, and that was nice.
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
- Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyard
- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.
- Fill the field {with soil}
- Remodel 1 bathroom
- Build window boxes for the front of the house
- Build an arbor for the wisteria
- Order 4 cords of firewood by the end of May and stack them in an artful way {like they did in the book Norwegian Wood}.
My House Projects For This Year {so far}
- Finish painting the outside of the house
- Finish painting the inside of the house
- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here HA HA HA
- New window treatment for the kitchen window
Try 24 New Recipes {4 down, 21 to go}
Last week I baked a loaf of Dutch oven cinnamon raisin bread and it was SO GOOD!! I think the plan going forward is to make this bread once a week {prep on Friday nights and bake on Saturday mornings}.
Other recipes I’ve tried this year:
Listen to 12 Audiobooks
While not an audiobook, I did pick up The Boys by Ron and Clint Howard at the library this week. I’ve only read the forward so far but I have a feeling it’s going to be a winner.
Audiobooks I’ve listened to this year:
Night Road by Kristen Hannah on Audiobook. I’d give it a 9/10.
Get a Fishing License and Catch a Fish
The HH is in charge of procuring all the fishing gear. So you know, there’s lot’s of research to be done first. π
We got a wee bit of snow yesterday! π π π I haven’t been outside yet {I took this photo from the kitchen window} because all the doors are blocked but as soon as the handyman digs us out, I’ve venture out and take some pictures.
WAHOO!
My List of Garden Projects For This Year I want to Accomplish
- Map out this year’s garden by April 1st
- Plant apple or pear trees
- Plant raspberry and blueberry bushes
- Plant asparagus and rhubarb
- Grow 500 pounds of food
- Expand the lasagna garden
- Finish clearing the front of the property
- Get some garden pots for the front an back patio/porches
Create 12 New Rug Hooking Patterns and/or Kits
The plan is to create at least 1 new pattern each month. In January, I added 3 new patterns/kits to my Etsy shop:
Have All My 2022 Ornaments Finished by April 1st.
I didn’t get a chance to paint any ornaments last week but chickens are on my to-do list for tomorrow.
52 Walks {We’ve gone on 1 of 51 so far}
Do to the freezing temps, our walks are on hold for a wee bit. π
Visit 12 Towns in Maine That I Haven’t Been to Before
So far we have visited the town of Hope Maine and checked out the General Store there. π
How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?

I was wondering how much snow you would get. I live in Alabama so snow like that just doesn’t happen (or it is very very very rare). I would be at a loss as to what to do. π
Gigi says
Open the door/garage door, see a vertical wall of snow. Shovel the first 6β or more and toss it as far as you can to the side. Keep slicing down until you reach the ground and move forward. Next wait a few hours for the plow to come by and then shovel the end of the driveway again. If anything, maybe stuck at home for a day waiting for the roads to be plowed.
Now if youβre proactive, then you shovel every few hours to keep it a manageable level. Same goes for snow blowing. If the snow is too deep for a small snowblower, it takes just as long.

So excited for the snow pictures! Bet Lucy’s trips out are quick ones

LOVE LOVE LOVE that pantry! We just put spice racks on our pantry doors 2 weeks ago. It has taken me a long time to convince hubster they would fit AND not ruin the doors he built with the weight. Those big drawers will be fantastic too!
Congrats on your sales so far this year for your stove fund. Terrific 1 month progress.
As for my goals…. My January goal was to finish 7 quilts. I am a quilter, mostly for community donation. I have finished 8 quilt projects!!!!! I am thrilled with my progress. My 2022 quilting goal is to finish at least 22 of my 25 UFOs and 2 or 3 of my dream quilts. Only 1 of my UFOs was a finished quilt top on Jan 1 so I have spent a lot of time this month in my studio π
Happy Sunday π

I made your cinnamon raisin bread this morning and OMG is it amazing!! Thank you for sharing it. My husband is a very happy guy!!
Jeanine says
How many square pieces are you going to need for your quilt? I like your choice of materials. Itβs going to look beautiful. Enjoy the snow!
Melonie says
I love the kitchen idea – that’s amazing. The baskets look cute but I don’t think they’d “work” for my family. They sure do look lovely in the photo, though! That open shelving – eeee, love. This is a fab find and I look forward to seeing how it works out in your space.
The basket of kindling, I don’t know if people say this or if it’s “so 2021” now, but that’s a vibe. π

Made the cinnamon raisin bread this morning and it turned out great!

Love the pantry. After just cleaning the tops of my cupboards I laid down parchment paper on top to make future cleaning easier. Unbelievable how much grease and dust collect up there.
As for your ornaments, if unglazed will they absorb water? If so why not make smaller ones and sell as brown sugar savers. Just a thought.

One of my goals this year is to read 50 books, including 5 “classics” (there are so many classics I’ve never read, even though I’m a pretty avid reader!). Anyway, this week, I finished listening to all 37 hours of Anna Karenina. I’m not sure listening to something that long was the most meaningful approach (esp. at 1.75 speed, haha) but I’m glad to have dipped my toes in a Russian masterpiece. So far this year, I’ve read 9 books and just started “Jack” by Marilynne Robinson, one of my favorite authors ever. I’m so excited to read this book, although the writing is so beautiful that I have to read slowly to savor it!

Goals for my year: (just what I’ve accomplished)
1,000 miles–need to get 5 miles in today and 3 tomorrow so I’m on track. Doable.
Flossing nightly–I think I have about a 95% track record–the nights I haven’t are when I’ve forgotten, not chosen, so that’s good!
Morning stretches and core work–loving how it makes me feel–getting it in daily, even when I’m in a hurry (one day I only did stretches, but that’s okay) I am upping my # and time each week–so there’s an added challenge
2 reading challenges–after today, I will have 4/50 for one and 6/50 (have to read some picture books for this one–and not all categories overlap) for the other. Have enjoyed all the books I’ve read so far! I’m setting an additional goal so that I don’t “force” myself into reading a book just because it fits a category—and I’ll allow myself to quit a book I’m not enjoying.
KATHY HORT says
Tia, would you be willing to share what stretches and exercises you do? I want to start something like this so curious what you are doing. Please and thanks, Kathy

The snow looks so pretty in your garden! So far I have started on three of my goals for the year: replacing every outlet and light switch in the house (we have over 70 and they are all from the 1970’s), repair and repaint spots (6 in total) in the ceiling drywall where we cut holes to run electrical cables last year, and sew heavy duty curtains for my husbands office windows using extra fabric I have a hand. I am 10 outlets down, I started the repair on all the drywall spots this weekend, and I have made 1 curtain so far. Next week I will finish the drywall repairs and paint them, finish the other curtain, and get my “10 weeks before last frost” seeds sewed and under a grow light.
Mary says
Call me curious, but why spend $22K on an Aga? I see them for sale at half that price.
Jen says
None of my business, of course, but I donβt think Iβd ever spend $1,000 on a stove! And yes, I cook and bake, enjoy it and am good at it!
Katherine says
I’ve completed 2 of 24 platelet donations with a third scheduled for this Thursday.
I now have a date for our whole house window replacement Feb 6-8.
My seeds and supplies are ready for the seed starting station that will be set up after the window replacement is finished.
I’ve read 18 books of my 170 goal and that includes audiobooks which I listen to when cleaning house, working in the garden/yard and walking.
We now have all of our new kitchen appliances, new bathtub, sinks, faucets etc., and cabinetry has been picked out. Now to finalize quartz and flooring for master bathroom and quartz for kitchen. The goal is to have all of our supplies ready to go before we start the renovation. I can’t wait to get all of my kitchen stuff unpacked!!
