Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
The panels have been installed on the refrigerator and dishwasher and so now all that’s left to do is have the countertops installed and of course, wait for the new oven.
The countertops should be installed the second week in November so we’re getting there… sort of.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!!
I hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to pay for my new Duck Egg Blue AGA cooker. But since the stove was damaged… We now have to wait another 6-9 months until the end of May for the new one to arrive. 🙁
Fill the Canning Cupboard DONE
I still have a few more {seasonal} things to can, but all the big stuff is done. And that feels good. Now comes the fun part… emptying those jars.
So far this year I have canned:
- Apple Pie Filling
- Canned Carrots
- Green Tomato Piccalilli
- Sweet and Spicy Hot Sauce

Not canned, but in jars:
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I may have to reach this goal in 2023. With everything that’s been going on this year, I haven’t been able to make it a priority and with it getting so close to the end of the year, I’m not sure how much of a dent I’d make. We’ll see.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Currently eating our way though a our late fall bounty of green beans.
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
It’s harder than you think! I have plans to reorganize the craft room next weekend though, so hopefully after that I’ll be able to keep everything in it’s place.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
I just need to cut squares out of the white fabric. And then I think I’ll be shipping all my cut pieces and backing to Camp Zoë to finish it for me. 🙂 Sometimes you just have to know you’re limits. FACT: The fabric is still sitting on the couch.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day a Week {I’ve had 40 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
I wasn’t able to stay off the internet this past week {and my eyes are sore because of it}. Hopefully this coming week I’ll be able to unplug for a day or two and have myself a proper pajama day.
Be More Intentional With My Time
With all the house stuff going on, I had gotten a little behind on my rug hooking so this past week was pretty much dedicated to finishing everything up so I could get all the pillows and rugs listed on Etsy.
Next year though, I plan to have a better strategy for using my time more wisely.
Keep My Husband Busy
This missing part for the new kitchen light came in the mail so the HH was able to get it installed yesterday. Now all we need to do is buy one of those funky light bulbs and we’ll be all set.

How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?
~Mavis
T says
I’m always amazed at how much you get accomplished in a week!
Can you share how you store your squashes, cabbages etc? I tried storing potatoes in the basement in a paper bag and within a couple weeks they shriveled.
Rosemary Calhoun says
I admire the way you are able to create your goals for the year and then actually do them! When I create my list of goals, it seems like I will have the time and energy to do them . . . then reality sets in and I find that the goals just get pushed aside. So, I will continue to live vicariously thru you, and I will set goals (again) for next year and maybe even complete some. You never know, it could happen!
Angie says
Have you tried roasting green beans? A little olive oil, salt and pepper then toss them on a sheet pan at 400 degrees until they are nice and blistered. They are crunchy, crisp green bean perfection
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! They are delicious. My husband likes them boiled though… So I make them that way most of the time.
Lisa says
Mavis- I love the old school look of your light fixture. Which brings me to a question. I know you don’t do Amazon Prime. I would love to get them out of my life as well, but what do you do with stuff like those vintage looking lightbulbs? Do you wait until you are near a HomeDepot? Those lightbulbs and my avoidance of big box stores is why I still use Amazon fairly frequently. Help me, wise one.
Mavis Butterfield says
We just wait until we’re near a store that carries what we want. Home Depot sells the bulbs.
