Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
Things are going well on the kitchen front. 😉
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove DONE!!!
I hit my goal of selling enough of my 2022 hooked rugs and pillows in my Etsy shop to pay for my new Duck Egg Blue AGA cooker. But since the stove was damaged… We have to wait until the end of May 2023 for the new one to arrive.
Fill the Canning Cupboard DONE
This past week I opened 2 jars of apple pie filling, a jar of salsa and a zucchini relish. We need to start eating more jam and ketchup though if I am going to have the canning cupboard empty by next summer.

Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I’ve decided to move this goal to 2023.
I just didn’t have enough time to devote to this goal this year. I had planned on making a few spinner gourd garlands this year for fall, but there is just too much other stuff going on right now to make it a priority.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Lots of potatoes this week. 🙂
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
Hey now, what’s that? A clean {and craft free} dining room three weeks in a row. Let’s see if I can make it 4.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup {DONE}
It was a good experience, and we’re going to do it again next year {although I would like to find a few more trees to tap so our yield is a bit higher}.
Make a Quilt Top
My cut quilt squares and quilting fabric for the background have been shipped off my friend Zoë. Her sewing calendar is pretty full right now, but she has me on her list for January.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day a Week {I’ve had 45 craft/blog free days this year so far.}
I’ve been spending my free time plotting away our next adventure. I think it will include Euros.
Be More Intentional With My Time
Being organized is one of the key componets of my life. Being able to see things up close is pretty helpful too. I finally broke down and had The Girl get me a magnifying glass. Because clearly, I’m getting old.
Keep My Husband Busy
The HH is now 100% in charge of bringing firewood into the house and walking Lucy. I love the cold weather and the clam that it brings. I just don’t like going outside into the frozen tundra if I don’t have too.
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyardDONE- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.
Fill the field {with soil}- Remodel 1 bathroom

Build an arbor for the wisteria{We decided to move the wisteria to another location instead}Order 4 cords of firewood by the end of May and stack themDONESand the floors in the entire houseDONEInstall new garage door openersDONE {new addition}
My House Projects For This Year {so far}
I still have some trim and a door to paint and need to find something to hang over our console table but other than that, I’m nearly done with my house goals for this year.
Things I need to get done this year:
- Finish painting the outside of the house
Finish painting the inside of the house- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here {working on it!}
New window treatment for the kitchen window{Have it, just waiting for the HH to install it}

How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?
~Mavis
Mary says
That lighted magnifying glass is the best-especially for reading small print fractions in recipes and on the package of rice!
Diana says
Have you planned anything for your kitchen walls or are you going to leave them as is?
Elle says
Ya know, there’s this lady named Mavis who has an Etsy shop in which she sells hooked wool rugs. I bet she’d sell you one that would be perfect above that dining room Credenza 😉
Wendy Steele says
LOL!!!!!!!
Wendy C says
I have big plans starting early Monday morning to get my house cleaned and basement organized before company arrives Thursday. I don’t have too much cooking to do for Thanksgiving #2 (our first one was at my mom’s house yesterday) and the actual meal will be at another home, but there will be relatives coming in and out through the long weekend. I’ve got my lists and plans and all the ingredients for what I need to make and hopefully there won’t be too many bumps in the road. My son has the crud-pretty sure it’s the flu, but hopefully is on the tail end of it. We’ll see how it all plays out. We may end up having a quite Thanksgiving at home if any of the rest of my immediate family pops up sick.
Marti says
I leave my parsnips in the ground and harvest them in the spring when the ground thaws but before they have a chance to start to grow again. They are much sweeter then. I don’t mulch or do anything special to them in the fall.
Teri says
I love your new kitchen. Personally I like the old stove — it matches all the appliances and ties it all together.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and HH and the girl!
Kym says
Would you mind sending me the coconut cranberry bread recipe?The one you posted is cranberry orange. Thank you!!!
Nanci Fitschen says
Hi Mavis. Your Cranberry Coconut bread recipe comes up as Cranberry Walnut bread with no coconut listed. It also has orange zest in it. Just wondering if you have ever made it without the zest? Thanks. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
GrannyB says
I made it and didn’t have an orange and it was very good. I’m sure the orange probably takes it over the top but my husband loved it just the way it was.
Carrie V says
What do you plan for the walls flanking the window in your wonderful new kitchen?
Cindy Goller says
Adding my two cents’ worth here: was the Cranberry Coconut Bread a typo, or was it supposed to be the Cranberry Walnut Bread you posted a few days ago?
Mavis Butterfield says
Cranberry Walnut Bread. I fixed the typo, thanks. 🙂
