Stay Healthy!
It may be dark when we get up now, but at least we get to enjoy sunrises like this one. Maybe it’s all in my head, but the sunrises during the fall and winter months seem like the best ones.
Since it’s the first Sunday of the month I weighed myself this morning and I was 131.5. Not bad considering my in-laws were in town and we ate out a bunch. I would still like to get down to my goal weight by the end of the year though.

Clean Out My Closet
I still have exactly 22 tops I haven’t worn yet this year and if those hangers don’t get turned around by December 31st, the clothes are headed to the thrift store.
My House Projects For This Year
We are still narrowing down our choices for the kitchen cabinets but I do think it would be nice to have some sort of “pantry” cupboard worked into the mix. We just haven’t figured out the exact configuration yet. And a work island for rolling out pie dough.

My List of Garden Projects For This Year I want to Accomplish
Yesterday I worked on clearing up the kitchen garden. We transplanted all the daisies that were along the fence, pulled up one row of tomatoes, the pepper plants and the zucchini, basil, cucumber, onion and petunias plants too.
Today before it rains I think I’ll pull up the rest of the tomato plants and do a little weeding.
The flower bulbs should be arriving any day now, so while I wait for those, I think I’ll get my garlic planted this week. Where exactly though, I’m not sure yet.
Still left on the list:
Install a simple flower bed border in front of the house{Done}Start a lasagna garden- Install a boatload of birdhouses/feeders in the side yard {re-thinking this one}
Transplant evergreen saplings to the side of property for a privacy border{Done}- Clean up and prune the area that faces the road {working on it}
Install a vegetable garden{Done}Install a sunflower patch{decided for a row along the side of the barn instead}- Plant 2,500 flower bulbs in the fall
Reach 10,000 Sales on Etsy {as of this morning I’ve made 8458 sales on Etsy}. Only 1542 to go. That means I’d have to sell 17.1 items a day until the end of the year to hit my goal. Yikes.
Well, miracles do happen, right? 🙂 Who knows, maybe everyone and their brother will want to order garden markers this Christmas.

I’ve noticed that you don’t use mulch in your gardens but I don’t see tons of weeds. Are you constantly pulling or hoeing small weeds to keep it looking nice? My garden would be FULL of weeds if I didn’t spread mulch on it, and they poke up through the mulch even at that. I would love to have my gardens look as nice as yours!
Mavis Butterfield says
I think I weeded about once a month this summer. I do a lot of companion planting and I think it really cuts down on the weeds when you pack a bunch of plants in.
Gigi says
I just learned about the Dutch push pull hoe. You stand upright and push or pull. I haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds like such a back saver.
Kim says
Very excited to see the new kitchen plan develop and install. Have you been told anything about those supply chain problems? I hope things come in on time!
It’s been so long since I ordered bulbs I can’t remember where I ordered them from. But, since it’s still in the 90’s, what does it matter.
Sue in SoCal says
I love that color of the kitchen cabinets. Can you tell us what it is please?
SandyF says
That watercolor by “The Girl” would be wonderful postcard prints or notecards. Etsy item perhaps? It is too enjoyable not to share.
A talented young lady…cheers!
Melinda says
I agree. Wish she made prints or sold her watercolors.
Terena says
I came here to compliment the Girl on the beautiful watercolour too. Such talent.
Nancy D says
I agree! Such a peaceful painting with soft simple colors! Well done!!! How proud you must be Mavis !
