Pheasants eye daffodils
Last night I sat down and went over my bulb order. I wanted to make sure I had a visual reminder of all the bulbs I had ordered and so I would NOT ORDER anymore!! 2,000 bulbs. I think that should be enough.
Our new home is on a postage stamp size lot. But that doesn’t mean I can’t fill it with flowers, right? My plan for next year’s garden is simple. Lot’s of daffodils and tulip bulbs in the spring.
Followed by hostas, catmint and allium.
Then it will be the peonies turn.
After the peonies it will be time for the hydrangeas {bloomstruck and limelight} to take center stage with some annuals {likely petunias and geraniums} in front of them along with a few hanging baskets on the barn.
And then the best part of summer… The VEGETABLE garden. With a heavy emphasis on vertical gardening. Maybe I’ll even have some room for some mammoth sunflowers as well. We’ll see.
Here’s some photos of the bulbs I ordered {and that should arrive sometime in October}.
Lieke daffodils
Tete a tete daffodils
Amazing Grace tulips
Charming beauty tulips
Flaming Purissima and Exotic Emperor Tulips
Greenwave tulips
Rococo tulips
Blue parrot tulips
Globemaster allium
Gardenia peony
Koningin Wilhelmina Peony
On one hand my bulb order of 2,000 bulbs seems like a lot. But then again, you can never have enough flowers, right? Luckily though, our place is in a prime spot for a pop up flower stand so the prospect of sharing all that beauty is pretty darn exciting to me. And, let’s face it, I’ll get some of my bulbs dollars back.
Yee-Haw! I am SO READY to get my hands in the dirt again. I have a feeling we are going to be VERY busy this fall. Creamy whites, pinks and purples… Those are my favorite colors when it comes to flowers.
What are YOURS?

We visited a tulip farm in the Netherlands at blooming time. As soon as the fields are inspected and approved as being all one color, they cut off the flowers. They are growing bulbs, not flowers, so they chop off the flowers to allow the bulbs to develop more. We were allowed to grab as many flowers as we could carry for free. You would have been in heaven there.

Your plans are spectacular! My favorite flower colors are pink, apricot, orange, and yellow. I especially love David Austin roses. Around here we have Pride of Barbados, which are amazing flowers! They are always seen in orange and yellow, but you can also find seeds for pink.

And I ENVY YOU being able to have tulips and peonies! It’s too hot here for those and I miss them!

I went to Holland Michigan a few years back and they have amazing tulip fields. You also see them all blooming and place your order and they ship in the fall. Their tulip festival happens end of April/beginning of May.

My favorite combination of flowers are several shades of pink with a few white and a few yellow. I once planted Purple Prince tulips and King Edward daffodil bulbs together. The tulips came up first, then the daffodil, tulips faded, and daffodils were left. It was striking.
I cannot wait to see your flower garden.
