Monkey Boy installed the bike hooks this week. It’s so nice to finally have them off the ground and be able to walk around the garage a little easier.
2. Run, walk or crawl a Marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 5k race this year.
Two down, two to go. π π Anyone know of any marathons or 10K’s?
3. Remodel our Master Bathroom, Master Closet and Monkey Boy’s Bathroom. Done!
4. Finish Every Room in Our House.
Working on it!
5. Turn Spare Bedroom into a Cozy Home Office Space for myself.Β Done!
6.Β Create a Vegetable Garden.Β Done!
The vegetable garden on the side of the house is still hanging in there. The rest of the lettuce was harvested last week, the chard needs to be picked, the beets have a few more weeks to go and I have 4 cabbages that are hanging on for dear life. Fingers crossed they make it and don’t go to seed like the 20 others I had planted in this spot.
7.Β Build a Path into the Hillside for Easy Access to the Upper Garden.Β We built a fence instead of building a path and let me tell you Bob, working in the backyard is so much more enjoyable now. It was money well spent.
8. Limit my personal spending to $100 a month.
I didn’t buy anything this week other than food. Imagine that. To be totally honest, I thought curbing my crap spending would be harder than it has been. I do need to find a new pair of running sneakers though.
In July I spent $50.82
In June I spent $6.00.
In May I spent $26.50.
In April I Spent $18.46.
In March I Spent $42.44.
In February I Spent $32.52
In January I Spent $84.33
9. Purge… Weekly. Find 10 things each week to donate to the thrift store.Β Done.
I went well over the 520 items I was hoping to get rid of this year either by donating them to the thrift store or selling items at our garage sale this year. Mission accomplished. I earned $473 at the sale for my efforts.
This week I’ve been revisiting my copy of Ask Ciscoe. I love this guy! I’ve been lucky enough to be on the same tv segment as him twice, as well as seen him around town at various events. I’m pretty sure at this point he thinks I’m a stalker, but oh, la, la is he a hunk. Plus… he knows everything you could possibly imagine about gardening.
Because I am a total psycho, I started another rug hooking project. I needed a diversion from the giant rug I’ve been working on since spring. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
I woke up early this morning so I could get a batch of zucchini relishΒ started.Β Have you tried this stuff yet? I actually prefer this to regular relish for burgers, tuna sandwiches and more. It’s AWESOME.
Did you set any goals for this year? If so, how are they coming along?

I went to Seattle University when Cisco was managing the grounds crew. He has a great bunch of stories about his time there, especially the one about stealthily removing a bad tree that one of the priests was fond of.

Marshall University has a nice marathon in November (I run the half)…but you would have to come to WV for that!
Andrew C. says
You should come to WV and run the Marshall University Marathon! It’s flat and usually great weather (I only run the half but you’ve run your half already).

Below is a link to one of the articles on the website for the Wineglass Marathon in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York (Corning, NY). The marathon portion is already full for this year but the course is very popular. The area is know for the wine making, fall foliage, glass making, and motorsports.

Hey Lady, (I know that’s rather informal, but it feels more normal than Mam considering you are in my home everyday)
I just got a Groupon for a 10K in Seattle

Good Groupons are hard to come by these days.
but, if you wouldn’t mind trying trail running, my neighborhood has something even better! We have a 1K/5K/10K/half/marathon trail run in September. It’s totally awesome!! It’s usually paired with a harvest festival where there are food trucks, hot air balloon rides, live music, hay rides, and lots of other fun. Just promise me you won’t judge my garden as you run by : P My neighborhood is about 10 min east of Spooner Farms.
