Yesterday I organized my wool stash and let me tell you Bob, I am feeling inspired. This weekend I hope to draw out a few patterns so I’m ready for this fall. I like hanging out with the puggle princess and hooking the afternoons away when the weather turns chilly.
2. Run, walk or crawl a Marathon, half marathon, 10k, and 5k race this year.
Still looking for the right ones/dates.
3. Remodel our Master Bathroom, Master Closet and Monkey Boy’s Bathroom. Done!
4. Finish Every Room in Our House.
Garage sale season is winding down and I still need a few things, mainly an end table and some stuff for the walls. I’m not willing to pay full price {that would be crazy} so this goal may get put off until next year. I do plan to finish up all the interior painting and hang the rest of the curtains this fall. It’s just not worth it to me to pay full price for something I know I’ll be getting rid of in a few years. I’d rather just hold out until I can find a good deal {one that I know I’ll be able to get my money back on when it’s time to go}.
5. Turn Spare Bedroom into a Cozy Home Office Space for myself. Done.
6. Create a Vegetable Garden. Done
It rained heavily last night and the garden is HAPPY. And I’m thrilled because I don’t have to water it today or tomorrow. I’m hoping to get some seedlings into the ground this afternoon. I’ll let you know how it goes.
7. Build a Path into the Hillside for Easy Access to the Upper Garden. Done. We built a fence instead.
8. Limit my personal spending to $100 a month.
This week I picked up a dress at the thrift store for $4+ tax and a box of Milk Duds {$1.00}. Money well spent in my opinion. 😉
August so far I’ve spent $5.24
In July I spent $50.82
In June I spent $6.00.
In May I spent $26.50.
In April I Spent $18.46.
In March I Spent $42.44.
In February I Spent $32.52
In January I Spent $84.33
9. Purge… Weekly. Find 10 things each week to donate to the thrift store. Done.
Mission accomplished. Not only was I able to donate a boatload of stuff to the thrift store, but I also made $473 at our yard sale selling my old stuff too.
This week I read the heartbreaking story Oranges and Sunshine. What’s amazing to me is that this horrible story probably would not have come to light {and thousands of victims would not have been helped} had it not been for Margaret Humphreys persistence. It’s astonishing what one person can do.
Let’s just say… all my free time this week went to creating mini rugs. 🙂 I am having such a blast with this lately. It’s hard to believe that about 10 years ago I worked on rug hooking projects about 6 hours a day. The past couple of years my time has been eaten up with blogging and gardening, so it’s nice to be able to get back to one of my favorite hobbies. Balance people. We all need a little balance.
12. Canning
I didn’t do any canning this week. I am however counting down the days until I can canned tomato sauce. 🙂 Our tomatoes are beginning to ripen quicker than we can eat them so I know it’s just a matter of a week or so before I see jars of pasta sauce lining the shelves.
Did you set any goals for this year? If so, how are they coming along?
~Mavis

Love your blog! I know you have done a tutorial on rug hooking, in archives! My question is I have not seen how you cut your wool strips? Rotary cutter? Machine? So glad that you are finding time to enjoy your rug hooking. I so would appreciate how Mavis does it, because you are the best! Thanks for making my day!
Mavis Butterfield says
I just use a rotary cutter, mat and a plastic ruler. Easy peasy. 🙂

Here on Vancouver Island I picked 43 pounds of tomatoes from my garden yesterday. (I took a page from your book from last year and weighed them,) I wish I had time to can – but I don’t – so I froze them all and will hopefully process them into other things once the weather cools down.
