The Girl came up for a visit {and to check out the new house for the first time} and well, we didn’t waste anytime getting out on the water. It was pretty chilly yesterday morning {mid 30’s!} and it was trying to snow in earnest, but we didn’t care.
We paddled around the cove, a little island and tried to evade the HH and his silly drone.
I think I’m going to have to invest in some sort of insulated toddler pants {stretchy pants} though for winter kayaking. And I’m sure Mrs. HB will be pleased to hear about that as we all know how much she LOVES her toddler pants.
Also, I’m pretty sure we are never going to move again. This is it. I mean seriously, what more could a girl ask for? 🙂
It sure does feel good to be home.
Have a great day everyone,
~Mavis

Oooooooo, that water is amazingly clear! So beautiful and rejuvenating.
Congratulations on finally coming home!
I think a book is in order. Maybe, ‘ A Year With Mavis’?

LOVE the drone pictures… you sure have found a beautiful place to finally call “home”! As far as the toddler pants, I am not a fan, and don’t wear them, BUT I ordered a pair of fleece-lined stretchy pants from LLBand and they are THE BEST EVER for cold mornings. I am now teaching from home pretty indefinitely and have set up in our chilly guest room. I think I will even buy a second pair and pretty much live in them this winter! Highly recommend!!

Yay! So glad you got kayaks and love them. Our water in Alaska is FRIGID … I love my Salmon Sisters insulated “toddler pants” but they are pricey. I’d actually recommend (not that you asked) insulted toddler pants with a shell outer layer so it keeps the water from soaking through. ENJOY!! Nothing better than exploring little coves and islands by kayak. Also a pair of neoprene gloves is a GAME CHANGER.

So happy to hear you have found your forever home. I have been fortunate to be in mine for the last 22 years. Home is everything.

What kind of drone does your husband own?
Mavis Butterfield says
There is a link to it in the post.

Nice to see the cold isn’t keeping you off the water. My aunt and uncle kayak in Lake Michigan almost year around. They even bought a kayak exercise trainer for off seasons. An idea if you trade in your treadmill.

I don’t wear leggings visible in public (except when exercising), but I love them to sleep in, as well as under pants or skirts in cold weather.
But I won’t call them toddler pants except when there is a diaper under them and I’m not old enough for that quite yet 🙂

Mavis,
LOVE the pink kayaks! Mr. HH will always be able to spot you! Good for safety!

You know Mavis, sometimes it takes several moves to figure out where you really want to be. We moved three times in the same town in Vermont ( that we retired to) over 10 years, to figure out the house that really suited us. Some friends thought we were crazy, along with our son who asked “when we were going to get it right”. You live and learn and I do not regret any of the moves we made! Enjoy your new found haven! It is the coast of Maine……… my next dream place to live!

Oh how fun to have your daughter visit. The pink kayaks are marvelous! I’ll be she loved them. So happy you are feeling good about your new home.
It is soooooooo hard to wait to see photos of your home and the 2021 goals you will have Sigh. I suppose it is building character in our lives to wait. (haha)

Mavis, I had to smile when you wrote, “Also, I’m pretty sure we are never going to move again. This is it.” I can’t even imagine how you’ve managed to move 3 times already in such a short span of time but I’m happy to hear that you’re so happy where you are now. I admire your spirit of adventure and the way you just plow right on ahead with no fear, no, what-ifs, etc. Now is the time to be ready to explore, while you’re young enough and brave enough to go for it. I wish you much happiness there and I guess I’ll have to live vicariously through you because I’ve wanted to move to Maine since I was a teenager and that’s many moons ago. I still haven’t done so. My mom put some serious what-if this and that into me right away but as I look back now, oh yeah, I should have just taken the plunge, so my admiration for your adventurous spirit is heart felt. ☺

In the pics of kayaking ,it looks like both of you have some sort of white label, sign? on the backs of your jackets?
Mavis Butterfield says
The top of the life jackets are florescent for safety. 🙂

That looks like absolute nirvana. Just. so. perfect.

Looks peaceful. Let us know if the girl is tempted to move there!!
