Here in our area half an hour from Charlotte, we got a surprise 3″ of snow so we’ll be staying in again. Yesterday it was because the high was 21°. The highlight will be reading while the NFL games are playing in the background.

I live in zone 6, so warmer than you, Mavis. It was -5 F (yes, minus) this morning. It is up to a whopping 10 degrees now. I cooked some old grains and fed it warm to my chickens!

Hi! It was -14 when I woke this morning at 6AM; it’s now 11AM and 142 degrees, feels like 0, with massive sunshine. High of maybe 18. LOVE January in NE Ohio, where we got 14 inches of snow in a few hours Monday in Medina. On the agenda today is freezer meals: Chicken soup, chicken paprikas, taco soup, meatball stew and probably something with Lou’s Brats and fried sauerkraut (Lou’s brand is Cleveland made and delish!).
Stay warm and have fun!

Hello Mavis! What is so strange is that in Northern California this morning it was 60 at 8:00 am. I thought our weather station was malfunctioning because it is normally in the mid to high 30’s in the morning and we have been reaching low 60’s for the daily high for about a week, so unseasonably warm! Weird weather!

My plan for the day:
*a leisurely lie-in (check!)
*return a brown (ahem! tan) pair of overalls to Amazon–what easy return options there are now!
*run to dollar store (to see if they have tiny containers for cheap–for Valentine slime for students)
*a long and fast walk
*grading, grading, grading papers…
*lesson planning
*tiniest amount of housework possible
*stay out of DH’s way as he enjoys 49er game!

LOL! The pic of your daughter and Lucy is great! Also love the socks! I worked some overtime this week and I am going to buy a mantis to make a veggie garden! I am so glad I had the opportunity to get extra work and thanks to your blog and pics, I am pretty sure a Mantis is what it’ll be. Enjoy the weekend.
