Hello Saturday,
Well, the leg lamp is up. And the HH is claiming it’s guiding the sailors home.
Yep, that’s what he said.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
On the to-do list for today:
- Get up, shower and put on a pair of fresh jammies 🙂
- Pack up orders and ship them out
- Try a new cookie recipe
- Make a platter of pickety bits for dinner
- Start working on Mrs. HB’s Christmas present
- Wait for snow {word on the street is there’s a winter storm coming!} YEE-HAW!
How about you? What’s on your list for today?
Have a great Saturday everyone and stay warm,
♥ Mavis & Lucy

Love the leg lamp! I am off to work in the bookstore for a few hrs. We are expecting 8 to 12 inches and very glad the new generator is in and ready to go if need be.
Mavis Butterfield says
Have a great day at work Cathy, I love that you work in a bookstore! I would LOVE it if we got 8-12 inches of snow.

I wish I could do pajamas today (though I am still wearing presently). Today I have to finish baking gingerbread house pieces and get the cardboard bases cut out of boxes and ready for tomorrow’s decorating with the kiddos. Then off to help a friend move. And finally enchiladas for dinner with Christmas movies (haven’t decided which one yet, Christmas Carol is my favorite).

My goal today is to get the garage clean before any snow . THIS year I want to fit 2 cars into a 3 stall garage !
Sue says
Mavis, thank you! I can always count on a smile from you and the HH. Can’t wait to see the snow pictures, going to be beautiful with that view.
Jeanine says
So…where did the leg lamp origin come from? Was it a movie? I think it’s kind of fun for Christmas. Have fun watching the snow after you send out all the packages and hunker down. Enjoy the weekend!
Andrea says
The movie is A Christmas Story. One of the stations runs it in a 24 hour loop that starts Christmas Eve! “You’ll shoot your eye out!”

Guiding the sailors home…your HH always brightens my day. You two are so entertaining! Although when I read that to my husband this morning, he expressed interest in a leg lamp so I quickly changed the subject. He’s a fan of that movie. Not expecting snow here near the Texas Gulf Coast so I’ll enjoy your pictures!

Men! So fun; can’t live with them, can’t live without them!
Love that calendar. They would be perfect for one of your giveaways? Maybe, some day? I’m sure there are a lot of us out here who are living vicariously in Maine through you. That’s one of the states I’d like to live in (but never will because I’d be too far away from family), especially on the water. I’d LOVE to live by the ocean. Have a great jammie day!

I, too, have a leg lamp, but mine is a 12″ version that I paid $1 for at a yard sale. It had never been out of the box, and I love it. Now, I am inspired to get a full-size version.
Margery says
Let your husband know that he made alot of us smile today. I am spending the day cleaning and getting my house back together after Thanksgiving and baking last week. In just a few weeks all the college kids are coming back some for just a week others for 6 months.

“guiding the sailors home”! What a hoot! Today I am potting up rooted transplants (houseplants) & hanging out /feeding/ playing den mother to a houseful of 15 year old boys. It’s hilarious, exhausting, & I wouldn’t have it any other way
Mel says
The guiding the sailors home thing reminds me of this exchange with my husband:
Me: Why is there a sword in the basement?
Him: Slay dragons.
Me: We don’t have dragons.
Him: Yup, the sword works really well.
He broke out the 12 National Lampoon’s Christmas moose mugs this week, so that lamp is in good company.
Mavis Butterfield says
I feel your pain.
Cindy Brick says
“Merry Christmas…the shitter was full.” That gem sticks around in our Christmas conversations every year!
Mavis, I think you should ask if someone died by that leg…laughing.
Vicki says
Have you seen the Leg Lamp Christmas cookie cutter at AnnClarkCookieCutters.com? Thought of you when I saw it the other day.
Linda says
The leg lamp?! I love it!!!! The comment…even better!

It was love at first sight when I saw that pic of the Maine calendar that you posted—with the image of the Nubble Light House @ York Beach, Maine!!! Even though I live in what some Mainers call the south—just south of Kittery, ME—I do love, love, love Maine. Got to get myself one of those calendars. Thank you for sharing that picture.
