Hello Saturday!
It’s a chilly 22 degrees here in Mid Coast Maine this morning and I only have two things on my to-do list for today:
- Pack up orders and ship them out
- Watch movies while working on my latest rug
Yep. I think it’s going to be a pajama day. Wahooo!
How about YOU? Are you going to take it easy today or is your day going to be packed with activities?

For today:
1) laundry
2) clean bathrooms
3) work on crochet projects
4) start wrapping gifts
5) make ham for dinner
59 degrees right now in Northern Florida – should get up into the 70’s later today. At least we don’t need to use the a/c or the heat!

We had our wood floors (entry, guest bath, kitchen and dining room) recoated with hardwax/oil at the beginning of the week. They needed to come back to re-coat yesterday so we’ve been huddling in the living room with all of the furniture from the other rooms and two 90 pound dogs. There is a little patch or two in the kitchen that will need a third coat but we should be able to move the furniture back into the other rooms tomorrow, let the dogs out into the rest of the house and then put up our Yule tree and decorations. Yay!
P.S. The floors look beautiful and have stood up to our dogs, cats, kids and dirty country feet for years – it’s also less toxic than most finishes.

grading papers, grading papers, grading papers
little bit of planning and prepping for next week
hopefully a good amount of reading
doing some preliminary gift wrapping
It’s mostly a working weekend! Thankfully my husband doesn’t begrudge me my busy job and understands!

Aww, you don’t have a class parent or two who would do some simple grading? I always volunteered to take some of the load from the teacher. Maybe ask for volunteers…I loved doing it!

I feel like the job has gotten even busier since I left the classroom (still in education, but different role). I’ve been dropping off lunch for my friends who are still teaching.

Meal prepping for the coming week. I work 12+ hour days as an ER nurse so I meal prep for myself, my husband and my 84-y-o mother who lives with us. Made sweet and sour meatballs (your recipe), beef stir fry with rice and a turkey/vegi/orzo soup (made stock with the Thanksgiving turkey bones I stashed away in the freezer)
Everyone has their little meal prep containers ready to go labeled and stacked in the fridge. Off to make dinner then I think the couch has been calling to me to come watch tv and relax 😉

I got up early and went to Publix for two turkey breasts that cost a total of $20, at $1.49/lb., stopped at a yard sale and bought a Singer Treadle sewing machine, tried to take a nap, heated leftovers for dinner, and watched a movie. That is it for the day.

Today I went to an auction, the Dollar Tree, post office and then home. Here I unloaded the tires from my car after the snow tire switchover, played fetch with the dog while I let the goats out to forage, then back inside to make dinner and two cookie doughs to get started with my Christmas baking. Will probably do some work for one of my jobs but we will see.
