My to do list is small. As in precook Christmas dinner and make bread from scratch (no bread machine either) because I have to work that day. Laundry done, house cleaned, so after that, weekend is mine to become a sloth.

For once my to do list is quite small. My grandson comes over later while his parents go to the company Christmas party and I am just going to relax and enjoy having him here.

I need to do some laundry and maybe some baking. I got all but the last little bit of decorating done yesterday, so I need to finish that up today as well.

Mavis, did you make the scone mix yourself to go with the Christmas jam or did you buy it? I think I am stealing that idea for next year! Today I am ushering at a local Christmas concert, making wheat Chex mix, making cookies for church tomorrow and re-processing my pineapple habanero jam which did not set.(found a fix on the Internet. Evidently, this happens sometimes with pepper jellies). And I had a shot in my hand yesterday for a trigger finger, so who knows how this is all going to work!

We bought the scone mixes and went with King Arthur Flour’s Vanilla Cream Scone Mix. 🙂
Rita says
Is that mix better than the Fisher fair mix? How do you wrap your jam gifts (bag, box, etc)
Merry Christmas to you and yours Mavis!
Mavis Butterfield says
Nothing beats Fisher Scone mix. 🙂 But the King Arthur is really good too {and made in Vermont} and I was able to buy it from a local shop so we decided get it instead. I did paper kraft bags, scone mix and 1 jar of Christmas Jam with a cream twill ribbon to close the handles at the top.

Spending Saturday inside-made 2 batches of Vanilla Bean blog cinnamon rolls to refrigerate over night, finished knitting a hat, and started another one with a new pattern, walked the silly corgis, UPS delivered my gift to myself, a 7 qt pro-line Kitchen aid mixer! I have killed each of the smaller sizes-(3) so going for the big gun.
Cleaning, set out supplies for both Hanakuh and Christmas ( we celebrate both) . So, brisket, kasha and potato latkes, home made apple sauce, then the next day, turkey and ham. (I know, I know-the ham is quite a stretch but hey! It’s a blended family)
Happy Holidays to you all-I am so thankful for this little blog community, was a great group of “friends”!

School is out so I’ll be cooking and trying to get more done on my list before the end of the year!
Thanks for the heads up on the cheap magazines. Got 3 for myself for under $12. Yea
