Today’s list:
1) pack up an order for Etsy customer
2) take photos of items ready to list on Etsy
3) scan in scrapbook pages (on going project – too much for one day)
I have a lot of scrapbooks – one for each year – and they take up a lot of space. My goal is to scan in the pages of each scrapbook and then upload them to a photo album website such as Mixbook, Shutterfly, etc. and create photo books for that year. I will still have a lot of books but they will take up a lot less room as I will then toss the old scrapbooks – and I will also have a digital copy of each scrapbook. This is not a cheap project . . .

It’s hubby’s birthday! So the carrot cake has 20 minutes left in the oven, plenty of time to cool before frosting by 5pm (we’re pacific time). Ordering pick-up food from Hubby’s favorite restaurant for family celebration dinner tonight!
We’ve been ordering take-out dinners 2-3/month, trying to support our local restaurants. I always call in the order and pick it up myself to save them any app fees… And I tip well (especially since we’re not getting apps and drinks, it’s still less or about what it would have been eating there).
I got a late start this morning, so so did the sourdough starter, but it’s out in the sun now (because the oven is at 325F for the cake), happy as can be, so I should be able to start the bread in a few hours. I make the dough on one day, proof it overnight in the fridge, set the oven to delay cook for about 7am, and then pop it in the HOT oven when I get up – pretty genius if I do say myself 😉 I’m a huge fan of using delay timers to have cooking tasks revolve around my schedule…

Confession time….I’ve never used my delay timer. I’ve always been afraid it won’t delay right and ruin the recipe. This is actually the first time I’ve even heard of someone using it. I just might give it a try!

Hi Mavis,
It’s Sue from Anderson Island WA.
We’ve had a string of dry sunny days and the gardeners at the historical farm are out cleaning gardens and planting onions and peas! No snow here! Have a great day!

My one and only project for Saturday was to make Mavis’ colcannon with organic cabbage from Market Basket. It was delicious and sooo worth it. Thank you for that easy-peasy recipe.
