Today’s List:
1) laundry – it’s always laundry . . .
2) create listing for finished doll blanket & pillow set for Etsy
3) work on another doll blanket (they are a favorite in the shop)
4) crochet the hubby a scarf and surprise him
5) check on the bunny (he lives outside – I’m allergic) We got him on Tuesday for our granddaughter – Hubby built him a safe and secure area.
6) see if there are any more eggs from the chickens (they just starting laying this week)
7) drink hot beverages – it’s chilly today!

I’m glad Lucy is doing well! Our spoiled dog is turning 4 on Tuesday so we’ve been telling her it’s her birthday weekend:..probably need to take her on extra walks and give her extra treats…
Other things on the agenda include a bit of house cleaning, decluttering, and I just put pork in the oven for pulled pork. I made baked beans the other day and I will make coleslaw later today…easy peasy dinner and we will have lots of leftovers so some will go in the freezer for future dinners.
Have a good weekend and stay warm!

Ice storm here. Took out power to over 125,000 people on Thursday. They have restored power to some and now only 80,000 without power. We were fortunate to keep our power, however son lost power at his house on Friday morning when tree due to ice fell and took out power line. He is at our house now.Needless to say the ice storm shut things down here for 2 days .Today the temps will finally get above 32 and melt the ice.
There will be lot of trees to clean up from this storm and damage to repair. At least the end of next week temps back the mid 50s. Hoping to get back to some kind of normal here soon.

Love the picture of the birches! Hmm, it’s Saturday-dump run day, errand day, bread baking day. Tomorrow is cleaning, laundry and any food prep for the next week.
Glad we are done with weather for a few days anyway. Enjoy the sun.

– We had our dishwasher replaced yesterday (old one started leaking).
– Getting a second estimate on the roof replacement today (this one’s leaking).
– Sunday we’re taking the washing machine out to a friend to see if he can repair it (it started leaking).
Hey wait!! I sense a theme here.
The birch photo is so pretty. It looks like it would be lovely over your credenza.

Holly, they (it is always “they”; who are “they?”) say bad news comes in threes, so maybe you just got it all out of the way?
HollyG says
I hope so. We seem to be working on 3³ (so more like 27), but if could be worse and there is always a light in that tunnel.

I didn’t get much sleep Friday night, so I was very slow moving yesterday, but I managed to make two crockpots of rotisserie chicken, one for jambalaya soup for dinner last night and one for chicken cordon bleu soup tonight.
Mavis Butterfield says
Mel, where did you get your chicken cordon bleu soup recipe from? I’d like to try that.
Mel says
I’ve never made it before, but this is the recipe I’m trying out tonight:
https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-cooking/recipes/a97260/chicken-cordon-bleu-soup/
I’ll try to report back about how it goes! It looks really fast and easy, so I’m really hoping it turns out.
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes, please report back!! 🙂

Ugh. I think the idea has potential, but I did not like that recipe at all. The ratios seemed off (way too much liquid, not nearly enough onion, etc.), and oddly the cheese never fully melted (never had a problem melting cheese into soup, so I don’t know what’s up there–maybe too much cheese). The flavor was also a little flat, so I think it could use some garlic and celery.
It’s worth noting that I’m extra picky right now due to pregnancy, and my husband was able to eat it. But I couldn’t eat more than one bite, so I’d definitely look for a different recipe if you want to try it.

Your post about your agenda got me wondering about your cleaning routine, and how it fits into your overall daily or weekly schedule (forgive me if this has been covered in earlier posts). Your house always seems immaculate in photos, but you don’t strike me as someone who would have cleaning help (no judgment there either way – it can be a godsend). I find that my cleaning routine can sometimes pre-empt all other plans for the day – if the house is messy, I get derailed and I end up not doing the tasks I have set out for myself. Do you do your cleaning in one fell swoop every week, or do you divide it up? Curious, since you always appear to be highly organized and productive. Any chance you are a Capricorn? 🙂
