Hello and Happy Saturday! Today is going to be a great day, I can just feel it.
The snow is melting, the turkeys are everywhere and I just pulled my lavender seeds out of the refrigerator and put them under the grow lights. With a high of 45 degrees in the forecast, we’ll probably head out for a walk this afternoon. 🙂
On the agenda for today:
- Keep the woodstove fed
- Pack up orders
- Make a batch of cole slaw
- Work on latest rug {it’s another big one}
- Find something good to watch
- Set out garden seeds on the kitchen table so I can go through them tomorrow
That’s it. That’s my plan for today. How about YOU? What’s on your list for today?

My plans for today are almost done. Waking up way too early on a Saturday, laundry and house cleaning done. Fresh sheets on bed, done. Freezer meals cooking in crock pot (taco soup in one, chili in second, chicken stew in third…I LOVE this 3 pot crock!) and instant pot (Nice roast for several meals) for dinners next week, soon to be done. Then it’s on to binge watching The Crown again. Biting, frigid wind blowing in NE Ohio this morning, with several counties under lake effect snow warning. Thank goodness I’m not one of them!

Wow, that 3 pot crock sounds amazing!

-Post a bunch of stuff on Buy Nothing
-Menu plan, make shopping list, go to the store
-Make chicken curry for dinner

It’s finally warm here in the PNW, at least for a few days, so we’ll probably take a very slooooow walk to the playground. My toddler is very into practicing walking “backwuds” and it’s both exasperating and delightful.
Other than that, I’m trying to get together as much stuff that we don’t need for a Goodwill run.

I love the image of your toddler walking backwuds!!

Cold and raw temperatures here in northern Illinois and so focusing on the indoor list. Cabbage was 17 cents/pound this past week and so mixing up coleslaw or sauerkraut is on that list, fermenting style. My oregano seeds popped up yesterday, but the grow light bit the dust. Trying to stay off the doom-and-gloom stories right now and focus on getting something done like clearing/organizing cabinets and making something that will make someone’s day better. Reading a good book is also on the to-do list this weekend.

The sun is out in this Oregon town, so working in the hazelnut orchard is pleasant today!

I got up, made buttercream frosting, frosted the cake, made roses and decorated the cake. Cleaned everything up. Then we hosted the family for a birthday party. Everyone has gone home, and we are just chilling out. The PNW is sunny and beautiful today, which makes it two days in a row!

That is a labor of love to bake and decorate a cake! We hosted a birthday party today too! My Mother-in-law turned 100 on Tuesday, she had a party that day and one for out-of-town guests today. We live an hour and a half away, so I ordered a cake and it was beautiful! She loved talking to everyone, it really was wonderful to see!
