Hello Saturday!
The snuggle puggle has decided to take the morning off. 😉
Rain is supposedly headed our way this afternoon so the HH and I will probably spend the morning in the yard tidying up before heading in to tackle our next project… Putting together the Birdies Garden Beds that just arrived.
I am super excited about these garden containers!! Not only are the ones I ordered 30″ tall, but I think these new Birdie’s Beds will be PERFECT for my late fall/winter veggies with deep roots {hello winter parsnips and carrots!!}.
The reviews are solid and I noticed on the side of the box that each one weighs 59 lbs {granted, I did order the largest ones}!!! After we put ours together I’ll share some photos.
As a side note, through May 29th, 2023 you can Buy 3 Birdies Beds, get 1 of equal or lesser value for FREE {and they ship for free as well!}. Plus, if you are still in need of some garden seeds, Botanical Interests is having a 40% off sale on over 300+ seed varieties through the 29th as well.
Hot dog! It’s a good weekend for garden deals.
On the agenda for today:
- Pack up orders and ship them out
- Make a loaf of Dutch Oven Crusty Bread
- Help the HH in the garden
- Finish a second Mables’s Kittens Runner
- Finish The Magnolia Story on audiobook
How about YOU? What’s on YOUR list for today?
Have a good one,
~Mavis

I bought a Birdie’s Bed last year to start a small patch in our side yard of the apartment building in downtown Portland! It has been great! Mini greenhouses fit on top to start greens/lettuce, carrots, broccoli, and kale early. I out them out in March this year and have already harvested salads twice!
Happy garden bedding!

My HH and I were out in the garden before the sun came out to do some planting.
Zucchini, yellow straight neck squash, radishes, carrots and a few sunflower seeds.
Yesterday plated the 22 tomato plants (we grow from seed) We cut back from the 35-40 we normally plant. It gets too overwhelming and we still have a lot of canned tomatoes from last year.
Also got the cauliflower plants in ground. We decided to try cauliflower because….WOW!… cauliflower prices are crazy!!!
Corn and beans have sprouted in this hot weather…..kale and pak choi is up…for some reason no lettuce! I’ll have to re-plant.
Hubbard squash and sugar pumpkins are up…dill is in…. and we planted the jalapeno and other pepper plants in the hoophouse
I still have a large spot mid-garden to do something. Don’t know what yet. I’d better figure it out soon!! 🙂
Oh… did a hill of baby cukes and a hill of regular cukes. We’ll see….. I don’t have much luck with cucumbers

Just curious. Have you found a walking friend like you had in Washington?
