Well, there’s never a dull amount around here… that’s for sure.
Yesterday Mrs. HB and I spent the morning planting in the garden and then just as Mrs. HB and I were about to walk out the door to head out on some adventures, she went back and opened the door to her room to find not only Lucy inside, but that Lucy had gotten into her medication.
And ate 2-3 days worth of pills!
Mrs. HB was freaking out trying to figure out what she had just ingested, I yelled for the HH in that tone all husbands know is an emergency and he quickly swooped in and grabbed Lucy and threw her in the car while I called the vet to tell them what had happened, what meds she ate, and that they were on their way.
Yada yada yada… Lucy got the contents of her stomach emptied, a nice dose of activated charcoal and lot’s of hugs and kisses from all everyone around and now she’s back to her normal self again. 🙂
Let’s hope nothing too exciting happens today!
On the list for today:

How scary! Glad to hear that Lucy’s ok (love the picture of her wrapped up in blankets!) and that Mrs. HB was able to replace her pills!

Oh wow! Lucy Lucy Lucy! Pills are so bitter and nasty…what were you thinking? Silly pup!
So glad she is back to normal.

Poor sweet Lucy and Mrs. HB. Very traumatic event for all of you and great that you and the HH have the team work thing down to get Lucy swiftly to the Vet.

Not a good way to start your visit. Thank goodness Lucy is okay. We were in a mouse infested rental in Ct. while our home was being built and our sweet Golden ate mouse poison the landlord/exterminator put out. They use peanut butter and blood thinners to kill mice. The vet told me to force hydrogen peroxide in her til her vomit was clear. Not a good experience for momma or my sweet girl. Only use snap traps now.

Thank the Lord that you guys caught Lucy’s snack in time… this animal lover was terrified just reading it! She looks healthy and much loved in her blanket. So glad all is well and it didn’t put to much of a damper on your visit. I love reading of all your activities and adventures (except Lucy’s today!)

OMG… Poor Lucy! I know you all were beside yourselves with panic. So happy that turned out well due to quick action. Thank goodness Mrs. HB had to go back to the room! ❤️

Thank goodness Mrs. HB went back to her room to find Lucy!!
Poor baby so happy she’s ok!!
I will be keeping all pills in a drawer or high shelf!!

Glad to hear Lucy is OK and Mrs. HB can get her meds replaced. I usually worry only about children getting into my meds when I visit. I’ve heard of pets chewing up guests’ jewelry, possibly jealous of the attention going to the visitor.

So glad poor sweet Lucy is okay! My Chiweenie Yancy loves to chew on sticks, and wants to be with me all the time. When I work in the front garden, I put him on a leash and attach it to the flagpole, so he can run. Unfortunately he was able to to reach a fresh hydrangea “sticks”, which he was contentedly chewing until I noticed. He became very lethargic and started almost foaming, frothing at his mouth. We rushed him to the vet for a shot, and I’m happy to say he lived through the experience, but shortened our life expectancies considerably. I had no idea they were poisonous! With all those hydrangeas in the area you’ve fenced for your gardens and for Lucy, please make sure she has something other than hydrangea sticks to chew on.

Glad Lucy is OK! Years ago my uncle had his overnight bag on the floor and my little dog ate some of his allergy meds. Rushed her to the vet. He called poison control. Already in her system, had to ride it out. For the rest of the day and overnight she couldn’t stop stomping her front legs and her eyes were wide and distressed. It was like she’d had a mega dose of caffeine. I spent the night on the floor with her and she stomped on me all night. Finally wore off in the morning and my poor girl was so exhausted. Fast forward years later and our chocolate Lab stood up on his hind legs and grabbed a bottle of multivitamins from the back of the counter, popped the childproof cap off by biting into the bottle, and ate the capsules. Good thing we both came home early for a hearing test I was having. Cancelled that and headed to the vet. Never left anything edible on the counters after that.

Our fur babies keep us on our toes, don’t they? I’m so glad that you discovered her when you did and that she is doing well. I hope the rest of Mrs. HB’s visit will be glorious.
