Hello Saturday!
Warm weather and sunny skies are in the forecast for the next week so we’re pretty excited about that.
The plan is to leave the tomatoes and peppers out overnight and then work on getting them planted in the big garden tomorrow and monday. 200 plants, how long could that take? I don’t know, but we’re going to find out. Yee-Haw!
On the agenda for today:
- Pack up orders and ship them out
- Toss something in the CrockPot for dinner
- Open bags of seed potatoes and let them breath
- Steam, bind and hang my latest rug on wall {it’s a big one}
- Clear off the dining room table
- Eat Ice Cream
How about YOU? What’s on YOUR list for today?
I hope you have a good one,
~Mavis

I told my 13yo son to mow the front yard this morning and I would do the steep slope on the side. Anyhow, I went inside and 10 minutes later he comes in proud to say he is already done (it is 1/2 acre and push mower). I was telling him no way and I went outside to look and he mowed only the perfectly flat areas, maybe only a 50’x50’ section. He stopped at the gradual slope and the coulee and any uneven areas. It is going to be one of those days of learning and make instruction.

For today:
1) laundry
2) cut up watermelon and give to the chickens (save some for me too)
3) plant more marigolds in the garden (the ones I planted 2 months ago have fizzled out – they do help with the bugs)
4) take photos of the new items for listing on Etsy
5) see if hubby needs help adding space to the chicken’s roosting area (the younger “girls” are ready to join the older “girls”)
6) figure out something for dinner . . . (I am thinking of just taking a pizza out of the freezer)

I’m glad eating ice cream made the list 😉
I’m going to be at a soccer tournament with my 16 y.o. for most of Saturday & Sunday. We’ll be heading out this morning to the first game, coming back after that so he can teach volunteer tennis lessons, and then heading back this evening. My mom & I are volunteering at the tournament, so I can earn my $100 volunteer hour credit for soccer.

Now at movies to see The Little Mermaid then out for pizza with my little one. Happy memorial day everyone.

Put some Polish Chamomile on the dehydrator.
Ran through QFC to check for deals.
I picked up 4 packages of Ground Bison for $2.10 pkg.
We have never had bison before…..
Also got a 13.9 oz. container of Private Selection Ground Nutmeg for $2
Other than that, a lazy day for me! My HH has been working on a drip system for the garden the last few days. Just about finished

Today, I got my 3-mile walk in,..hubby and friend did the Murphy at CrossFit. Then we all met up for lunch. Came home, cleaned the kitchen, and the bought and planted flowers in all my outdoor pots,
Then I had to check my squash and zucchini for squash beetles—it’s a daily chore with those rascals—and picked green beans. I bought a hot water canner so I can make and can plum jam from the plums we picked off our plum tree (Texas red wild plums). It will be my first time attempting this.
And the. I bought some netting to keep the birds off the tomatoes. I also found a really cute bird bath that I thought might be overpriced, but now that I’ve done my research, I determined it’s actually a pretty good deal, so I’ll go back on Monday and buy it.
Now we are headed to a family BBQ for the evening! I love a good productive day!

I worked.
Mavis, do you make your own ice cream, homemade? If so, what’s your preferred brand of machine? I am thinking of getting one myself.
Thanks

Eating ice cream was also on my agenda for today! I also pruned my lilac. I had other pruning I wanted to get done too, but it’ll have to wait til next week. I took my kids to a splash pad after lunch. We didn’t stay as long as planned because the sunny, warm day turned windy and chilly and eventually it started raining.
