I enjoyed your post on Sturbridge Village. I’ll have to get there one day! If you are driving back across New York State and have a day to spare, you might stop at Genessee Country Village and Museum in Mumford. There are 40 historical buildings (from 1795-1920), animals, some heirloom gardens and farms, craftsmen at work, lots of docents in period dress, and many special events. Definitely one of my favorite historical sites around. We have started going each year when we visit the in-laws. One of my favorite visits was on July 4th, when they have a ceremony in which they swear in 50 new U.S. citizens. It was so moving! Then, my daughter competed in the pie eating contest. There was even a parade with a brass band! Just a really great place…. plan to spend the whole day there, if you can.
