Today’s agenda: finish weeding the garden, harvest the first radishes from the garden, replant some carrots (I had a very spotty crop come up for some reason!) and get the sprinkler running. It’s been in the 80s to 90s for the most part for 2 weeks now in my corner of southwest Minnesota and we’ve had small spotty rains! Then get the yard mowed and celebrate my 28th wedding anniversary with my hubby!

Hi Mavis! You should try The Barefoot Contessa’s (Ina Garten) cheesecake recipe. Lots of ingredients, lots of time, lots of steps, but oh, so worth it. It’s my go-to special occasion favorite. Enjoy!

This morning I got out early and tied up my tomatoes. I’m in Alabama so I have to get out really early to work in the garden. If not, the heat will zap you quick. Just got back from the grocery store and am about to work on some freezer meals for my brother and sister-in-law who are moving into their new house today. Later this afternoon my sons and husband are coming home from Boy Scout camp and the laundry will begin! Good grief, I better get off the computer and get busy! 🙂

The Three Cities of Cheesecake recipe from Epicurious gets rave reviews whenever I make it. This includes people from New York. I cannot recommend it enough, and it is incredibly easy to make. I add a bit of cinnamon and dried ginger to the graham cracker crust mix for a little extra sophistication 🙂

I forgot to add that I will often make a sauce for it — apricot (using jam as a base) raspberry, blueberry, and rhubarb have all worked great.

I’m listening to “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie” book today. It’s a wonderful book Mavis and I recommend you get on your library’s waiting list. It may go to your #1 spot.

The movie is currently on Netflix. I enjoyed it.

I’ve made both Martha Stewart’s and Ina Garten’s cheesecake recipes. They are both top notch. Martha’s is more like an Italian cheesecake—not sweet and drier— and Ina’s is pure New York cheesecake — very creamy and a bit sweeter. (Dammit, now I want cheesecake…)
