Hello Saturday!
A high of 83 is in the forecast for today. I can’t believe it. It doesn’t get up into the 80’s here in Mid-Coast Maine too much {thank goodness} but I’m excited for my plants. And because I’ll get to enjoy my afternoon cuppa out on the water where it will be nice and breezy. 😉
On the agenda for today:
- Doughnut run {in the dinghy} with the Duck Lady
- Water the vegetable gardens
- Pull some weeds
- Finish backing a few pillows
- Steam and finish the rug I just hooked
- Get a small batch of pillows and 1 rug and some kits listed in my Etsy shop tonight at 6pm
- Start a new rug
How about YOU? What are YOUR plans for today?
Have a good one,
~Mavis

Going to try to stay cool! Today in my part of Alabama the high will be 94. That isn’t too bad on its own, but the “real feel” today is 104. My sister is bringing my 10 month old niece to visit today and later this evening will be garden chores and I will begin picking our 8 blueberry bushes. I love your mug!

For today:
1) laundry
2) drop off granddaughter to basketball camp at noon and then pickup at 7pm
3) finish getting the house ready for another granddaughter’s visit (picking her up tomorrow to stay with us for a week)
4) check on the garden and turn on the soaker hose
5) put drinks in the fridge to cool down for the road trip tomorrow (about 600 miles round trip – 9 hours of driving)
6) work on some new dish towels for Etsy shop
7) try to stay cool . . . (our temps are 100 plus!)
I wish I could buy some energy – I’m going to need it!

Have fun with your granddaughter! Who but grandma would make a round trip like that! Drive Safe! And yes, energy is wasted on the youth!

Staying cool has not been a problem since last summer. Our winter here in the Pacific Northwest was extended until um maybe yesterday. We’ve been hiding in our NW corner of the country being thankful we weren’t burning up like the rest of the country. We got a few days of heat – but back to cooler temperature and grey skies. We know how bad y’all have had it and send you cool thoughts.
Last year was difficult for us – with high temperatures and forest fires filled our skies with smoke and people were dying from the heat – other than Alaska we have the least air conditioners in the country. No earthquakes or volcanos so there is that.

Although the forecasted high for Sachs. TX is 103, I have been outside tending the parts of our garden and flower beds that are still in the shade. Alas, the sun is chasing me and I will soon be inside for the day.
We are desperate for rain so Lord, please send some.

We got an early start this morning with 90’s forecast for the next three days.
– Watered all of the pots of flowers on the various porches and decks
– Visit theFarmer’s Market to pick up a few strawberries
– Run to the next town over to get garden hoses
– Hubby is making Korean BBQ pork shoulder
– Keep and eye of the chickens and pets

104 in Texas. I had to stop by so I could type-delete about how awful this heat is! 83 would be a God-send!

Hey, Mavis!
Saw something cool and thought of you.
It’s the St. Peter’s Fiesta in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It’s 5 days long and happening right now. Too short notice for you, I know…but thought maybe you’d like to know about it for future adventures.
I have been watching via YouTube from the Pac NW and it looks fun.
St. Peter is the patron Saint for Fisherman. The Festival is put on by the Italian community there. It looks fun. The food looks amazing. I know I want to go someday.
