Got pears? Make this recipe for spiced pear jam and you’ll be thanking yourself all winter long. 🙂
Don’t want to wait until winter to taste the fruits of your labor? This almond cream pear tart is pretty awesome too.
And just in case you bought a case of pears and you’re looking for yet another idea, this recipe for spiced pear butter is crazy good over pancakes or spread on toast.

where do your source your little mozzarella balls? I’m having serious tomato envy. With 6 weeks of high heat, my 8 plants dropped flowers time and time again. I finally have some fruit growing but they are far behind and last year first frost was 3rd week of September 🙁
Happy Saturday!

I am going to the Netshed in Gig Harbor for an outdoor breakfast and a lovely pot of tea.
Thanks to you and Mrs, Hillbilly for posting about it several years ago.

I had a very disappointing meal at NetShed 9 last week. Avoid the chicken and waffles. First negative experience (both the food and service) I’ve ever had there.

We use up tiny tomatoes by blistering them in a skillet (cast iron is great) in a little olive oil and a tossing them on top of an omelet, quiche or in with pasta salad, etc. The caramelization from blistering elevates the sweetness to counterbalance the tanginess. I am not getting tons of tomatoes this year due to heat, dryness and being too busy. I’m happy to live vicariously through your abundant harvests.

Loved the Call the Midwife series. Enjoy watching it. I also like looking at Lucy’s face every Saturday!

We finally got a break in the heat and humidity so I’m processing tomatoes and making pickles this weekend.
