You know that moment when you suddenly realized that you’re one of those people. You know, one of those people you used to smile, raise your eyebrows and shake your head at?
Ya. Well, I’m there.
But I don’t care. I LOVE Miss Lucy. And if her legs get tired after a mile or so of walking and she needs to be carted around… So be it. I’ll happily be one of those people for her.
Life. It’s sweeter with a furry friend.
Carry On.

I’m one of those people too and proud of it! When my precious senior dog had trouble walking more than a block – she was 16 – we bought a variation of that same stroller. I felt it was the least I could do for her as she had given us so much.

Absolutely! ❤️

Welcome to the club! Enjoy the ride sweet Lucy!

Love this. She looks so happy. You’re a great dog Momma. ❤️

Totally! My best friend always took her cat for a walk in a cat stroller. She is the first person that I ever saw do that. She is a total cat lady. She moved from the US to Wales and took her cat. It was a whole process. The cat even needed a passport.
Now, fifteen years later, I just bought my granddaughter a cat stroller for her rescue cat.

There’s a lot of “those people” out there and we all cater to our furry friends. We have a 14-year-old Schnauzer mix we adopted when she was 8. Her owner had died and she was up for adoption at our local humane society. She looked like an old dog and had trouble climbing steps or getting up on the couch. My husband said we had to adopt her because no one else would – they want puppies or young dogs. He said she may only live a year or two, but it would be a “good” year or two. We changed her food to what we were feeding our now-9-year-old hound, and she because a whole new dog. Gray fur was replaced with black, she began running the fence row, jumping on the bed or the couch, full of energy. Our fur babies make life worth living.
Annette says
Hi Pat – I’m curious what type of food you switched her to.
Pat says
For several years we have fed our dogs Grandma Lucy’s freeze-dried food – a 10-lb bag re-hydrates to the equivalent of a 50-lb bag of dog food – with a sprinkling of grain-free kibble on top (we use Wellness). Over the years, our dogs frequently suffered from allergic reactions which required a vet visit, shots and medication. Once we began using Grandma Lucy’s, we have not had a vet visit for that problem. It’s a little pricey, but not more so that the other “premium” brands – and we more than save it in vet bills.
Annette says
Thanks. I have seen that brand of treats.

I have become one of these people as well! If i’m going anywhere my fur baby is coming with me. Why would I want to leave her home. Once she gets older I will purchase her the stroller as well.

Totally agree with today’s blog and comments. Our pets want to go with us and keep their routines. Such a small price to pay for continued enjoyment. Lucy is a lucky dog!

Such a lucky dog.

I am laughing and rolling my eyes at the stroller to take Lucy on a walk. I am not a pet person because of severe allergies, but I am just grateful you didn’t start putting a service vest on Lucy and claiming her as a service dog. My hubby’s amputee co-worker has a trained service dog for tasks and I have heard too many stories of people taking their so-called service dogs into places and making it harder for him and his dog to try and live a normal life. The stroller is funny and I would definitely do a double take and maybe an awkward look, but I appreciate the limits it gives as I would not have to worry about Lucy jumping on me or sniffing me.

Been there, done that. My pug passed away in 2018. No regrets whatsoever. It was an honor to do so. They enrich our lives in countless ways. Take care, Mavis and Ms. Lucy!

I am responding as I ride in the car with one hand toward the backseat to calm my corgi as we drive back from a HWY 101 road trip . We showed the dogs otters, elephant seals and deer. We hiked along the coast in the wind. I only take vacations where they Join us – and with adventure for them. We only get them for such a short time and we are everything to them

I’m glad you’re “One Of Those People”. There’s nothing on this planet better than a happy, smiling dog.

Right there with you! I have a 14 year old terrier mix that lost a front leg when he was 5. I got him a stroller several years back to walk our active lab mix. My boy now has a Bob toddler running stroller. He is happy and excited to go on walks, he enjoys the fresh air, and he gets out when we are close to the home to get his exercise in. Everyone gets their exercise so a win-win!

I have a pet gear stroller as well and it is awesome for my blind rescue yorkie.
I have had MANY people stop there car and say to me “why is that dog not walking?”
I am thinking really? When I say she is a blind rescue with bad hips some of them have the decency to look alittle red it the face lol!
Good for you Mavis and lucky Lucy!
Jog on!

Clapping for you and me, because I’m one of those people too!♀️
Ranae says
Hi Pat, I too am curious what kind of food you switched your dog to?
Pat says
Hi, Ranae – please see my full response to Annette above, but the short version is Grandma Lucy’s freeze-dried food and Wellness kibble. It’s made a world of difference to our dogs.

I’m most definitely one of those people! Purchased a double pet stroller for my Mother’s senior Cairn Terrier who has vision issues. It has a low threshold so the pups can step right in. The stroller also provides balance support for Mom who is 86. The entire family loves to take turns strolling the pups through the neighborhood. So happy for precious Lucy.

I love this!! She is so happy!

Mavis I have to admit it, I’m one of those people too. Our little Zsa-Zsa got old and wasn’t able to go o walks/hikes with us anymore and would cry when we would leave. We bought her a stroller and she would get excited when we brought it out.
We did a lot of camping and enjoyed sitting by the fire at night. Little Zsa-Zsa would get cold no matter the amount of blankets we used. My husband bought her a heated dog house (it was actually a cat house that looked like a dog house) so we now smile differently at people who push their fur baby in a stroller.
Judi Y. says
The stroller is wonderful! Years ago I didn’t know about them and used to take my older dog for walks in a wheelbarrow. You can imagine the looks I got but I didn’t care.
