So, I love every part of your daily update. I have gotten some really good book ideas from you! I think you recommended “The Girl with 7 Names” once before, because I got it from the library this summer and DEVOURED it. Like in 3 days while at family camp in the beautiful Sierras. Then my 5th grader read it too! She is extremely empathetic, and she really enjoyed it, as well as it bringing up topics of totalitarianism, human rights, etc. I highly recommend it.
Thanks again for all your work, I love it.

I just finished The Girl With Seven Names yesterday. Highly recommend it! So interesting to hear first hand how people can be led to believe or think something is normal when in a regime like that. We all know about North Korea, but to get this inside look is extraordinary. Was interesting to learn about the struggles defectors deal with once they are safely out of the country.
I tend to read a lot of history so I am removed from being able to “do” anything about the situation (ie., Jews in Nazi Germany). Reading this book knowing that these issues are being lived out by people today makes me examine myself regarding how I can be helpful to them.

I love that you used a Bible verse for the quote of the day. Lots of wisdom to be gleaned that can help all of us in our daily lives. I would love to see that more often.

A highly productive and eternity-shaping, practical thing we can do right this minute is pray for N Korea. That God’s power would break the satanic strongholds paralyzing the country. Join me? 🙂

You’re absolutely right. Thanks for the reminder!

Mavis, I wanted to thank you for your blog. I actually wrote down goals this year. To be honest, one of those goals was no more credit card spending. January has been an epic fail on that goal. However, the wife and I have had more than one discussion about our finances and the credit cards (which is a big deal in our home because any discussion about money tends to turn nasty). I believe we are finally on the same page, we’ve decided that January was a learning experience and we are going to go into February with renewed hope.
We are bringing God back into our home, and growing closer as a family. Thank you for being an inspiration to me. I look forward to sharing and learning.

Hang in there Brian. YOU CAN DO IT.
