Yesterday, with the roads all cleared the HH and I decided to get out of the house and go for a drive. The main attraction: the newly re-opened Owls Head General Store in Owls Head, Maine.
Although the building was built in 1880, it has been in operation as a general store since around the 1920’s. The store closed in 2017 and sat vacant for three years until the current owner {who is 26! How awesome is that?} stepped in and with the help of her family, was able to re-open the store a few months ago.
And you know what? The new owner, is doing an EXECELLENT job! The menu is wonderful, the deli case was ready with to-go items and the store is stocked with all the essentials you’d expect to find in a tiny general store in seaside community along the coast of Maine.
And, there’s homemade fudge too. Seriously, we were impressed.
Since the Owls Head Light is right around the corner from the general store, we decided to order lunch to go and park over by the lighthouse. While the HH was ordering us a club sandwich to split, I found dessert.
Chocolate cake. And it was good! So good in fact it totally reminded me of the chocolate sheet cakes I used to make for the kids sporting events way back when. I highly recommend it.
And of course because this is Maine, I had to try one of their blueberry muffins as well. {Another winner!}
So there you have it, the newly re-opened Owls Head General Store. I highly recommend it for a quick bite to eat if you find yourself in the area. You won’t be disappointed. 😉
Have a wonderful day everyone,

When my sisters and I used to journey to New England in the Fall, we always loved going into all of the general stores!

Amazed at her inventory!! And the prices on the homemade items (which looked scrumptious) left me flabbergasted!! Well done!

And there’s the book “Whatever It Takes” that I recommended to you. A true life story about the hardships and survival of a couple from Maine.

The inventory looks perfect. This looks like a place I would like to go to. But, from Alabama I am unlikely to drop in.
