Yesterday I wandered out into the backyard and created a flower box. I still had a few daffodils left over and wanted to get them planted asap, but was out of containers.
I did however have an old wooden pallet that was headed for the burn pile.
So after the game was over, I had the Handsome Husband break out his skill saw and chop it up for me.
The HH cut the pallet just above the 2 slat mark, and then knocked off 2 boards from another {unusable} part of the pallet.
Here you can see the flower box starting to take form.
I nailed 1 board to the bottom of the planter, and another to the top, and then stuffed the wooden pallet planter with soil and bulbs.
Hopefully in a few months this thing will be bursting will flower power.
Pretty cool eh? I love free stuff!

http://sproutsavvy.com/home/build-a-living-wall-and-repurpose-a-pallet-for-a-planter/ My sister is using untreated pallets this year for a living wall outside. I believe she’s planting herbs in it. Amazing what one can do with a pallet other then the go carts the boys made back in the day.

Cold day, Mavis?
Am I wrong or are you wearing a blanket skirt over your jeans?
Very resourceful, indeed!

Yep, and wearing my husband’s shoes too. 🙂

I have a pallet garden as well and getting ready to plant another one. I like the flower box though. I planted the pallet to make it a vertical garden, but even with the help of a male friend, lifting it was impossible. Unless I can track down the Incredible Hulk.
