If you have young kids in the house, take note. When my kids were young, it seemed like they went through a roll of toilet paper every time they used the bathroom. It was just too tempting to see that paper roll off the roll so easily, they just couldn’t stop. Before I could blink there would be a pile of toilet paper on the floor {or clogging up the toilet if they decided to be especially naughty}. So much paper gone to waste. Money literally flushed down the toilet.
Did you know one simple step can save you all that waste? Simply smash your tp roll. Seriously. That’s it. Before you load up a new roll on the holder in the kid’s bathroom, simply press the roll a bit flatter. The now oval shape of the roll will prevent the paper from sliding off so freely and cause the roll to slow with each rotation. Wasted paper be gone!
Have you ever tried this paper-saving method? Did it work for you?

-Squishing the paper roll helps. A little more effort slows you done.
-My hubby tries to enforce the “Use only 4 squares rule.” No thx.
-Your children move out. This is the best TP saver!

I can say that’s for sure! Before there was ‘double rolls’, and our girls were young, I budgeted a roll of tp a day. Girls outnumbered the guys in our house. But I have to confess, I prefer to use enough paper to prevent wet fingers!

Hey! I bet this will work well for certain cats, too…
Deborah says
John, if you put the toilet tissue roll where it comes off the back, the cats can’t unroll it. I don’t put mine like this, but if I had a critter that unrolled the paper, I would.

I accidently discovered this trick years ago. It works great! 😉

The Scott tubeless rolls also help.

Funny! Only today I was sitting in the smallest room of the house wondering about this!!
Our Japanese homestay girls go through an extraordinary amount of it… was wondering whether to have a sit down chat about excessive paper use or not for the next ones.
I suspect I will try this squashing method first. (Altho imagine how much FUN it would be trying to have that conversation with limited language communication skills!! The pantomime would be awesome!!)
(PS glad the cat seems to have grown out of the ‘lets wind all the loo paper on the floor’ game!)

I tried bending the tube and it didn’t work. So then I’d take the old one, fold it and shove it in the new one. That was a little better. Finally I found the “mom invented tp saver” on Amazon. That thing is amazing! I got a set of two for $5. Best money spent in a long time!
Lace Faerie says
ok, had to check that out on Amazon. Read the complete description, last item:
SAFETY FIRST –The TP Saver has been designed to consumer Federal regulation safety requirements. Additional safety features and benefits include a neutral color for minimizing the child’s attention and reducing the overall risk of toilet paper ingestion.
What? My toddlers did a lot of crazy things, but never ingested any tp! Hahaha!
Do they mean overuse of tp?
