Recently, two very exciting things have happened. #1 Dock Guy showed up and put our floating dock back in the water and #2 we were finally able to pick up our new dinghy and take it for a spin.
Summer here at Camp Butterfield… It’s gonna be pretty RAD!
First thing on the agenda though is to get a GPS and some charts because we are still learning our way around.
It’s been pretty fun the past few days tooling around and checking out the scenery. I know with summer right around the corner things will start to pick up and we’ll see a lot more {recreational} boats out on the water.
Right now it’s mostly lobster boats though.
We’ve even taken Lucy out a few times.
The dog is fearless!
And now anytime we take her for a walk around the backyard, all she wants to do is sit on the boat and watch everything around her. It’s hilarious and sweet all rolled up into one.
I LOVE IT HERE. Have I told you that yet?
Clear skies are in the forecast for this weekend and I couldn’t be happier!
Maine. The way life should be. š
Here’s to a wonderful weekend,

I think Maine should hire you as their Chief Tourism Officer! You make it sound perfect 365 days a year…. š

Make sure to take the US Power Squadron boat safety course, for of course, safety! Makes for better ‘neighbors’ on the water!
Rebecca in MD says
Lucy looks like she is definitely enjoying “Camp Butterfield.”

“Five ginormous monsters are taking up residence at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothby, Maine courtesy of artist Thomas Dambo.” I thought this might be a good outing for your family or perhaps when Mrs. Hillbilly visits.

Iām interested in that life preserver. Can you share the brand and model? (p.s. You look like a cast member from Miami Vice in that picture. Totally badass.)

Looks like Mavis shared the links at the bottom of the post! š
Elise in the SF Bay Area says
The inflatable PFDs are AWESOME! They are pretty heavy, but so much less bulky than the “traditional” ones!
Nancy D says
So fun! Congratulations! Hahaha looks like Gladys Kravitz has expanded her horizons!!! When I was little we had an old farm Jeep and whenever we got anywhere near it our little terrier mix would jump inside and sit soberly. As kids, it was a great thing to impress our friends with, as we would see how great a distance we could walk from the Jeep in order to āactivateā the dog jumping in. Have fun making memories!

Be sure to ask the locals of any hazards just below the surface. You’re from the Pacific NW where even big ships can get stuck on the underwater mountains that you cannot see.
What fun!

Me thought a Dinghy was a row boat like we have at our lake house. The kind with two big oars. I was pretty surprised to see a steering wheel and motor!
Rory says
A “dinghy” is definitely a rowboat. Often the fishing kind of simple boat with a flat bottom and small motor on back we call a jon boat.
What kind of boat is this? maybe it’s a fancier jon boat?
Rory says
Or a skiff

Iām so, so happy for you!! You are all going to have a great summer!! Maine is lucky to have you, the HH and Lucy!
Vivian says
I wanna come to Camp Butterfield! We had a place at the beach for 23 years and went from small boat to big boat. So. much. fun!!! I miss it a lot! Do it all now before old age sets in!
tia in boise says
I’m glad someone else thought it (and said it), as well. I, too, thought a dinghy was a rowboat.
Molly says
Oh man you guys are going to have so much funāļø

You almost make me want to live there and then I slap myself. I already live in paradise; just a different type. It sure looks lovely!
