Last year while Mrs. HB and I were in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho {she was there for a business conference, I invited myself to tag along} one of the places we knew we had to check out was Pilgrim’s Market. I can’t remember if this was before or after we had gobbled down a bunch of free donuts, but I do remember we drove away from Pilgrim’s Market with a big sack of treats {doing research for this blog, it’s a tough gig, but you know, someone has to do it.
Because seriously, how many Pilgrim’s do you know in real life? And how many of them will just happen to find a store JUST FOR THEM while driving through the state of Idaho and feel the need to tell you about it?}.
My guess? Not many. š
Anywho, I had actually totally forgotten about this little adventure until a thing popped up on my phone telling me my photo storage was full. And while I’m sure I could send my photos off to some sort of cloud in the sky, I think the universe has enough space junk floating around…. I mean, do I really need to add my 4,000 pictures to it? No, no I don’t. I need to get them off my phone {so I can add more}.
And so that brings me to today’s post about Pilgrim’s Market.
They have RAW MILK!!!! Isn’t that illegal in some states? But Pilgrim’s, they’re sorta hard core and carry the real stuff.
You know what else they carry? Brethren butter.
Not the religious type? How about some black truffle butter instead?
They even have gluten free baked goods? What is this, freakin’ Whole Foods? No, no it’s not. It’s a single store, and they have EVERYTHING. Not just Pilgrim food, but fancy uppity foods too.
Wild salmon cakes rolled in quinoa? Only $3.99 each. You can’t even buy fishing line for that!
Don’t even get me started on the bulk spice section. This place would have made a mint in colonial times.
Seriously, how wealthy are the pilgrims that shop here? I don’t even know what goldenseal root is, but at $176.99 a pound, you’d have to sell a lot of gourds to pay for a pound of that stuff! Why it’s not under lock and key is bewildering.
Twigs, berries, pasta, oats…. They’ve got it all.
And the produce section {check out those honey bees!}….
Clearly someone had to stay home from school to pick those beauties.
Bottom line, if you ever find yourself anywhere near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, stop by Pilgrim’s Market and check them out. It’s totally worth it. I promise.
Have a good day, and stay out of trouble!

What a great post. I would totally go there if I lived closer.
Goldenseal powder tastes AWFUL but it is great for healing canker sores and a little lasts forever (so not as expensive as it appears).
Scoop a little on a Q-tip and pile it on the canker sore. Then do you darndest to keep your tongue away from it and don’t salivate too much so you don’t taste it. Do this right before bed and in the morning, your canker sore will be well on the way to healed.

Good to hear fro you. Friends who walk fast and don’t chat are not really really good friends. Coeur d Alene is fabulous but you have to be a trust fund baby to live there year round.

My son works at Costco photo lab in Maryville, WA. He suggests if there is a photo lab nearby to ask them to transfer your pictures o a CD or a thumbdrive. You then can erase them from your phone. Good luckā”

You are such a hoot! Wanted to tell you that today was a Double Mavis day! I made the Christmas jam. A couple didn’t seal and my husband, after licking the dregs from the pan I made the jam in, said “Oooh, we’ll have to eat those right away!” AND I made 2 of the oatmeal pies, which are still cooling (they smell SOOOO delicious) – one to thank my son for sitting the dog, and one for us, because we’ve both been dieting, and heard oatmeal was good for you. Thanks, Mavis. You’re my new best friend!

How did you happen to pack your Pilgrim Outfit instead of a swim suit?
Mavis Butterfield says
Easy! I don’t own a swimsuit. š

Mavis, did you really take your Pilgrim costume with you on your trip with Mrs. HB?! I am dying here! I can only imagine what she and the staff thought . I am sure they are “proud as peaches” that their store made it to your blog.
Cheryl says
That is my question. Can you image stopping by and seeing someone dressed as a pilgrim? Just wanted to say how beautiful your home looks from the previous blog post and being happy is so much better then the rat race.
Mrs.HB says
I am use to her strange Shenanigans
Emily says
This begs the important question, do you always travel with your pilgrim costume or did you pack it with this store in mind?
