Looking for a fun date day idea in Maine? Yes, yes you are. 😉
Last winter the HH and I took a trip to Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine and were pleasantly surprise at the campus and the indoor market as well. So impressed we were like… WE HAVE TO GO BACK and eat lunch there one of these days because seriously, everything looked so darn good!
Pineland Farms is a 5,000 acre working farm with not only a business/education campus, but it also hosts tons of woodland trails and fields that are open to the public for year-round outdoor activities.
It’s also home to the L.L. Bean winter outdoor discovery programs too. Want to take cross country skiing lessons? How about snow shoeing? They even have a mountain biking course!
They even have their own ice rink and skating there is FREE!
Along with oodles of outdoor actives, Pineland Farms also has an amazing indoor market that features a wide selection of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs from local Maine farmers as well as their own farms.
Looking for essentials for a picnic lunch or a gift basket? They have everything you could possibly need! Wine, cheese, spreads, dips, chips, coffee, local meat and dairy products, you name it, they’ve got it.
Pineland Farms was so cool, I am totally putting this on my list for places to take Mrs. HB to when she comes out to visit me in May. Life in Maine. It’s pretty darn rad and I’m so glad I live here.
So if your ever find yourself in Southern Maine… be sure and check this place out. You’ll be so glad you did.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
~Mavis

Hi Mavis, As I looked at your pictures of Pineland Farms, I thought to myself… if I worked there, I’d be taking food home every night. But I can only eat so much and I’d be forever hurrying through the food I bought so I could try other selections. ha!

I visited Pineland Farms a few years ago when I went to Maine for the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference…we actually took a field trip there. It was a really great place and very interesting to learn about the history of it. Thanks for reminding me of this place!

Thank you for this! I’ve been meaning to go there for years because my neighbor told me about it. She described it as cows and sandwiches which didn’t hold a lot of appeal to me so I wasn’t in a rush, but after your pictures and descriptions I need to go as soon as I can. I’ve been sending you healing thoughts and hope you are feeling well!

Well, how are the cows doing? It’s nice to see the genetics I use to work with at Robdar Holsteins still going strong.
