Planting Heirloom Tomatoes

I say tomaaato, you say tomahhto!

I decided to plant some tomatoes.

You know, just a few.

Well 100 to be exact.

These little peat pot thingamajigs are my favorite container to plant tomato seeds in.

Plus they are fun to squish between your fingers.

I selected 10 different tomatoes to grow this year.

Amish Paste happens to be my favorite variety for tomato sauce. It’s amazing to me that just one of these little seeds can grow 50+ lbs of tomatoes. It’s a miracle really.

After planting two seeds per container, I push them down into the dirt with a bamboo skewer and cover with a bit of soil.

And then off they go to their temporary residence behind the couch for the next 2 months or so.

And just for fun I thought I would try growing some of my “cold weather” veggies in the little peat pots too (I placed the container in my “greenhouse” outside): Rainbow Chard, Bok Choy, Romaine Lettuce, Kolrabi, and Cabbage.
